Ok, I would like to make , design, add completly new ships to POTC. But to creat new ships I need some programs for it.

My idea is this: make a new ship, better then the MOW, I have the skeches already on my PC, add diferent color to the ship for every nation, and make som other Frigat, Corvette, Gallieon varients.

If someone knows where I can find the programms to do this ples tell me and leave the URL to.

PS: I need one programme to create the ships, one to add the hardpoints, and one to give it color.

Most modelers use either Maya 4.5 (which you have to use THIS version of, or the plugin created by Akella will not work) or 3DMax - with plugins (that are available via the WIKI) for converting to the .gm format.

There are also tutorials on the WIKI to help you along in the process.

Many people use Photoshop (which is pricey) or GIMP (which is a free download at most shareware sites) - to edit or create textures.

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is an `open-source` alternative to Photoshop, pretty powerful in its own right. You don't need a shareware site, you can get it directly from <a href="http://www.gimp.org/" target="_blank">http://www.gimp.org/</a>.

OK sorry for the double post but I thing I can juse Softimage|XSI to because I have a converter thingy. So I thing I can juse it to.

Yeah, most OSS (`open-source` software) sites aren't the easiest to understand, because they assume that the people visiting know what they're looking for. You can go here (<a href="http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/stable.html" target="_blank">http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/stable.html</a>), which has downloads for GTK+ ('GIMP Tool Kit'), which you'll need, and the GIMP itself. Download both, then install GTK+ first and the GIMP second. That's all there is to it, really.
 
Ok one other question: Softimage|XSI has a diferent way of making things and the converter can't convertid so I have to juse another programm.
Wich is the easiest to learn?
