Map Help Needed

I've read a lot of posts here and I never thought I would need help with maps, but I'm really stuck on a Lost City of the Aztecs map. I have both pieces and it says "Search SouthWest of Villa Hermosa. The map clearly shows the settlement of Versailles and a skull off the water.

I've searched all over this map and the cabin and arch rock that appear. I noticed like two or three ruins when I go ashore, but there's no way to enter them that I can see.

Looking for a hint here. :

The thing you are looking for looks like two reddish square pillars.

The ruins you seem to be talking about are map markers that only sometimes appear on the map. Like any other marker, Arch, stone head, geiser, dead tree ... you cannot enter them.

You walk close enough to the red things and you'll get the "you found it" movie.

Thanks for that info. I've found the first city, and it's good to know that the marker looks the same as the first city. I don't see it or haven't seen it anywhere on this map though.

I'm wondering if it's hidden by trees or something similar.

This is really annoying.

Do you have a red cross on the map that you have?

There's a bug that sometimes causes the map to come without that red cross and I fear that it may mean that there is no way for you to find what you are looking for (since it is not there...).

I just rescued my wife from Mendoza and she said she'd give me a piece of the map too, but it didn't add a piece and there's still no cross.

Shiver me Timbers. Guess I'll <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> and look somewhere else.

I guess the only thing you can do is to try to load a save file from a spot where you had no pieces of that map... Otherwise, it will remain there in your status and you will not be given maps to the two other lost cities... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

BTW: did you try looking outside the perimeter of the area that the map showed? Just in case the red cross just fell a little outside... Don't know if that is possible, though...

I went all over that area looking for it. Well beyond the edges.

Unfortunately, I don't have a saved game from before that map piece. No worries though. It's a fun game and lesson learned about the map pieces.
