Modhelper to start in different locations

Petros

Captain of "La Nao"
Storm Modder
Using Build 12.1 plus SWAK/Stormy Start and Blacksmith, I can't get the
POTC Modhelper to start a game in different locations.

I get a "Using reference variable without initializing" error.

Anyone else having this problem?

I tried it in plain Build 12.1 and it works so I'm sure its in the Mods.

I also noticed that in Build 12.1 it only initializes once, but with the mods it attempts to do so twice. I believe this is why POTC Modhelper is not able to start a game in a different location.

Help!

I'll check it as soon as I have a chance (i.e. once I've got the new pack merged in to my install so I know what's what).
Meantime, what's the codeline the error refers to? (Actually, if you could post the whole error.log and the last 5 lines or so of compile and system).

Here they are, thanks.

Huh <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" /> POTC Mod helper changes the file?

Do you get those four ch_init errors when you start the game normally?
If not, then _something_ must be changing the file... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Two months later and I found the solution

I've been using a fresh installation of PotC with Mods.zip.
In attempting to test the gunsmith mod which would require a new game, I decided to use Modhelper to start at Douwesen (forgetting the problems this has caused me in the past).

Well, it happened again!
Modhelper corrupted the game.

The same error logs as before.
The game would completely lock up windows even when launching it without Modhelper.

Cause:
I failed to enter an amount in Gold setting of Modhelper!
After entering an amount and launching with modhelper, the game was repaired!

In my game, there automatically is an amount of gold defined. Weird. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />
Glad you fixed it though. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" />

That's it though.
I start Modhelper and set it to start in another location.
For some reason sometimes it fails to have an amount in Gold, and I never realized that without that entry, bad things happen, including inaccurate error logs!
