Mods Advice.....

Just got me self a copy of PotC and have been playing it `un-modded` for a few days. Started to notice a few bugs and decided to look for some updates/patches etc. and I accidently found this awesome website!

Anyway.....

I will be downloading Build 11 tonight so will be starting over.
Can I still edit my character file? so I start with some points etc.? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />
Dont fancy working my way up again from the beginning!
Also.... are there any cheats (I know, I know!! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" /> ) that work with build 11?

Also....
I am playing a 'straight out the box' version, do I need to download anything else before I can run and play the new build?

I recommend downloading Catalina's excellent Fred Bob quest and here's a link to some details for it:

Also get hold of JMV's French and Spanish packs that are also on the Mod database.

Apparently the Spitfire cheats still work with Build 11 and they can be found here:

You will need the POTC Mod Patcher to install it and that can be found here:

Before installing these other mods I would suggest that you install the Build updates and the Extra textures. AFAIK the basic Build download doesn't include some of the bug fixes.
You can still edit your character and in fact you can very easily change your name and starting level, ship and cash just by editing the BuildSettings.h file with Notepad.


I believe that only the Fred Bob quest needs you to start a new game, all of the other mods can be added to your installation as and when you download them.

The mods can be applied directly to your POTC installation. When you do install I believe that you will have to put a tick in the "European Version" and "Localised Files" tickboxes to take into account that you have got a `non-US` version of the game.

If you have an FTP program you can grab an updated version of the `Spanish-French` soldiers, which also includes proper redcoats and Royal Navy officers. Let me know and I'll give you better instructions on how to get them.

I would highly recommend getting the updated version. The first release had a bug where it didn't work with the Fred Bob quest, and there was a problem with the French Captain's face not appearing.
