Montalbans Hideout

Can't find Montalbans Hideout.
The map says "Search North of Gran Granada." But there is no rocks in the sea or reference point on map, so i can't figure out where to start searching.
The map has several dead trees, stone heads and arch rocks, however no rocks in the sea.

Does anyone has some tips for me??

Hi adax,

Sometimes when it says search (coordinates), it can sometimes mean an island in the direction the coordinates were referring to.

The only tips I can supply are;

1. If the map shows any shoreline, look closely at the main map in the vicinity of the city its near. Try to make as close a guess as you can where to land based on the shorline depicted on the reference map and the main map.

2. Once you are ashore, use your spyglass often, if you keep it about level with your crew you should be able to see through/under the trees.

3. If you see any hills or mountains near where you are climb them and look from the top. You can see further when up on them.

4. You can also review these threads as they deal with the same general question as you have, they may offer some helpful suggestions ideas.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough?
What I meant was that sometimes the landmass where the town is situated isn't the coastline you should be searching, it may be an island in the direction the coordinates are referring to.

This has happened to me several times.

motalbans hideout is on the coast well to the north or gran granada. sail along that coast and its just to the west of the pirateshaven sydneystown.

Havent been able to beat the indians who defend the place though.

The maps shows a shoreline so it can't be an island... i think.
but i will look out for any island that might fit the maps description.

Couple of questions:

1. Can't beat the Indians.. at what? Land battle/Sea Battle/Fencing?
2. What is to be had at Montalban's hideout? is it like finding a pirates treasure, so mainly about the loot?
 
1. Yes its a land battle

2. Yes you get gold and Montalban as a cabin boy as well as all eight of his crew specialists. If you do not already have them they are useful.

It also gives you points for avenging...

Also, the hideout is huge. I thought it for city. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

I'm just starting this quest. Aren't the pirateshavens placed randomly on the map. I read in the strategy guide that the Jesuit missions and Settlements are placed randomly and I thought it said pirate's havens were as well.

Has everyone who has found his hideout found it North of Gran Granada? I would have thought they would have placed that randomly as well?
 
Aye it be random fer sure mates'if ye sail toward de shore from Santa Catelina follow de coastline head'n North,follow de map around de bend till ye comes tew a inlet called Cutthroat reef,ye should be able tew see tip O' lake inland,take a short walk ,at least be werk'n fer me <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />
