I remember trying this out on a friend's pc a year or so ago... i got annoyed with it with all the walking around and not knowing where on earth to go. But then again, that was somewhat my first impression of PotC as well, and look how much i enjoy it now, hahah.

Anyway, i can get my hands on a copy of Morrowind cheap, and i was wondering if it might be not as my original impression of it, if so many people seem to be liking it just fine.

My questions are:

1. Is it good? I know it is open ended and all, but does anyone find the walking around and not knowing where to go annoying as well? Cos the town i went to was so big, i got lost.

2. Are there any "builds" and such out there, that you recommend installing? How about mods?

I'm trying to play as much as i can while i still have time... i start work in a month or so :p
 
Hmmm, de ol' Sea Dogs 2 forum had a a whole mess o' folks dat came o'er from de Morrowind forums... many got into Sea Dogs then PotC! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Dem folks really did seem tew like de openendedness o' de game fer sure! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />
 
1.Its real cool! Some times you do get lost in the game(but you can use TES CS to find what u need), after a while you will learn all the cities.

2.I recommend <a href="http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/sodp/" target="_blank">Sea of Destiny</a> and the other cool mods by Clone.

Overal i think this game is the best! if you know C/C++ you can even make a new type of game(there was a Morrowind Pirates! mod in the works but never did release). And the TES Construction Kit ,what joy! this is the best modding program for a game i know.
 
Yeah I've loaded my copy up again, i never got around to finishing t before so im playing through the whole thing again marking the maps and so on. I think i have about 20+ mods loaded aswell. It is hard to find good mods though since there are soooo many of them
 
I purchased the Game of the Year edition for the XBox. It's really good, but daaaaaaaaaamn do I get frustrated in getting lost.

I didn't have a working PC at the time that could handle it. The frame rate was so nasty I about damaged my PC wanting to toss it out the window.

I need to get myself a good gamer setup soon, so I look forward to Oblivion when it gets here.
 
ive played the Xbox version, wasnt that bad, i played it for like a week, and after i got to a certain point in the game it began freezing regularly and kep dying...
 
Everyone said they had that problem with the original. I have yet to have the GOTY edition do it.

I've spent far too much time playing Morrowind and mods and forums. Now I'm spending far too much time on Pirates!....at least there are no mods. Yet.

I lost the play disk in my game of the year edition for this game

Ahh after all of this i started playing it again, im about 70% of the way throufgh....then i have the 2 expansion to do aswell.

Really is a fun game thought but those quests you have to lead someone are really annoying
 
Yeah have all 3, I like the `open-end` too and of course the fact noone is invincible :p (you kill `quest-crucial` people, you dont finish the quest though luck <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ) Well I never did much story really, just explored the countryside.... The map is just huge, too, doubt you can really explore it all, than + the 2 expansions....

Quite cool game.
 
It's kinda a disappointment after Daggerfall, IMO.
Plus the scripting support is so anemic I pretty much gave up on its coding opportunities.
{Although people have written external apps to do serious coding with...so perchance I speak too soon}

Plus...magic. {I root for the Dwemer, as you may imagine.}

That said, it's a bloody awesome game, and well worth trying.
 
Dwemer stuff is really cool, and adamantum armor and stuff...
There are a couple of bugs of course, like the infinite attribute loop bug...
I play a thief, love bow + short blade <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
