My game stopped working

I bought new graphic card Saffire Radeon 1950 PRO and installed the game with build 13 full and the second update anew and just I can´t start the game at all because it becomes got stuck somewhere in the process of starting it on the black screen before the introductory video and menu of the game will appear. I don´t know what to do and I am very sad about it. Another games working well for me, for example Oblivion or Gothic 3. I am using certified new catalyst drivers that don´t cause any troubles in my computer. Do you have anybody of you similar problems with Radeon cards what about PoTC concerns? I always played it with GeForce cards without any substantial problems. And is the file RunMe.bat working for update 2 and should be proceeded or not? I tried it first without proceeding it and then with it without any affect on my problem. Do you have any similar experiences and some valuable advices? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

I don´t know I didn´t try it. Maybe I will uninstall everything and will install the basic game first again and will try it if it will be woring or not. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

If the basic game isn't working, it is possible PotC doesn't like your new GFX card. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

I will try it and I will see. It would be really bad because my card is quite high-end card and from Radeon series only Radeon 1950 XTX is better now. As I can see again and again with computer are always some problems. And as soon as you resolve some problem, another can appear. Pieter, you did´t answer my question if RunMe.bat should be proceed or not now. And I am awaiting my new US version of the game, maybe it will be working if my current doesn´t. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

You do need to run RunMe.bat. It should work just fine on all English versions of the game.

Hi Rad,

I have the "sticks on the black screen" from time to time - for me pressing the space bar once (as if you were cutting out the introduction) while the screen is black works for me.

In my case though, I notice it is the storm engine "sticking" from time to time as well.

At last a manage it and my game started working! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> I am very happy my beloved game is functioning again at last. I already wanted to give up all my effort. I don´t know what I did exactly but I uninstalled some ATI codecs and some utilities from my computer. I have installed second update too now and I will see how stable is my game with my new video card. Jack, it´s good we will be able to exchange our impressions and experiences from our playing further.
