why does the game lag so much?

very long downloads, FPS drawdowns during rain, storm, night, you have to wait 10-15 seconds to pass, and this is in every new location

the game is set to a good ssd

I have no clue why weather conditions should affect it.

All I can think of is this:

Isn't that more a CT/CoAS thing? Especially with the game crashing in rain?

In PotC, as far as I know, rain is just a texture overlay that shouldn't affect performance much one way or the other.
Don't recall anyone ever mentioning troubles from it...

Not sure, but indeed it affects more Storm Engine 2.8 more than 2.
