Is the directX software developer's kit Dtex utility the only thing that can open .DDS files? I dont want to spend the next half hour downloading 200 plus megs of files if there is an easier way lol.
 
If you already have a good graphics program (i.e., Photoshop, PaintShopPro) they should have support for opening up a .dds file format. hehe, well i put in SDK but im going to need to school myself in it since i cant seem to get the flags to appear on my ship. They display as the proper flags in the flag choice scrolling menus, but when you pick one it shows one of the other designs in game instead. Perhaps there is a hidden attribute or referencing line i need to change somewhere?
 
Ahh no <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> you have to do it on the main menu page I think, you can't change them in game whilst playing, or at least they dont change anyway <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Take a look at my tutorial at Cutlass Isle (can be found in the guide section). It gives the instructions for modding the sails and flags, but the same steps can be used on all the other .dds files as well.

Good one Catalina, but I am a technical n00b and I can't work with progs like this. I let the modders and proggers do the work... because they know how to make such wonderful things. Me? Nah.... I am a common player hehe!

In case anyone is interested the image being used as a flag image actually makes an excellent flag, it is a british flag with a bulldog on it. To get that image just go the address above but without the additional images etc in the url. You will have to do what I do, resize it to 256/128 and do all the appropriate renaming and converting and due to it already having a flag texture I was most pleased with the results <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Od course. Any new modification would be good. I want my hero to look like a real pirate... but I guess I'm too stupid 4 stuff like this.
 
Why, the historical pirates flags are in Pirates! Gold, so, no need for searching.
