New ships

Where can i get some new ship skins apart from the ones that come in the build 12
I want a really nice lookin' corvette or frigate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

You may not have seen all the ship skins in B12 yet - If you get GMView, you can look at all the nice ship skins - there are quite a few. <a href="http://robotsdontbleed.com/suraknar/tools/ModelView.rar" target="_blank">http://robotsdontbleed.com/suraknar/tools/ModelView.rar</a>

I've downloaded it but how do you view the ships, I can't open the file (sorry if this is a dumb question but i'm not much of a technical person I don't even know how to edit a game file <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> ) Can you see the the new ships with it too or just the ones from the stock potc?

It can open any of the .GM files in the game, old ships, new ships, locations, character models, etc.

Get WinRAR, that will open the file up for you, should be a free download - then you will see how to display the files.

You have to be in the game directory and the top is for the "gm" files (which are in the Resource\models\ships\ folder) and the bottom part is for the textures or skins (which are in the Resource\Textures\ships\ folder)

Once you have both directories open to the correct matching sections, select a ship folder and open it, then highlight the top file of the .gm list and then you should see the ship hull. You can use the mouse left key to scroll around, and the right key to zoom in or out - and you can turn off the grid with the buttons at the bottom left.

Captain cannon: It confused me at first, but after a while you'll understnd it. Follow what Catalina said. The program isn't exactly user friendly, but it's much better than making a new game in PotC to test whether or not it worked.

No, Mr. Cotton, if you're not seeing textures (i.e., a white image instead of one with a skin), you either are not in the correct texture directory, or you need to RELOAD (there's a button at the bottom right).
