Ahoy all,
I'm Henri from Kokoon Games, a small studio in Helsinki. I grew up on Sea Dogs and Sid Meier's Pirates!, and this forum has kept those games alive for twenty years, so this felt like the right place to show what we're making.
New World Trading Company is single-player. You start with one small ship and an empty cove. You hunt pirates and smugglers (sorry, you're on the other side of the law this time), bring home timber, iron and gold, and grow a fleet and a harbour town one voyage at a time.
What we're focusing on:
We're in pre-alpha. A free Playtest comes to Steam later this autumn, and Early Access follows in 2027.
A question for people who know these games better than anyone: what did Sea Dogs and PotC get right that newer sailing games still miss? And what would make you quit a game like this in the first hour?

Fair winds,
Henri

What we're focusing on:
- Ships float on a physically simulated sea. Heel and swell affect your broadside.
- Shot damages hull and rigging where it actually lands. No health bars.
- Your town is your fleet's supply yard: its workshops make the planks, rope, sailcloth and shot your ships need.
- Portsmouth is the first home port. More ports, a trading system and new ships come over the winter.
