Havn't been here for ages, but decided to pop in and check the latest info on Pirates! when I saw the lates previews and all and started surfing about.

Landed on the O'brian fansite and what did I disover there?

The complete omnibus of the Aubrey Maturin series in hardcover for 150$ coming out October 30th! This includes the first chapters of his unfinished novel.

I am so having it for my birthday (since it's in December and I won't have time to read anything before my exams December 1st, might as well be patient and ask my friends to buy it for me)

I've had this edition on `pre-order` for a few months now but I also just learned about the unfinished book (three chapters) a couple of days ago. ooh goodie. Ive only just got to the Far Side of The World, and a lot of the early books are pretty manky from being reread, bought in book exchanges, travelling thousands of miles, falling into the bath etc. Cheers for the warning as i had no idea they were bringing out a set. Yippee. Now, wheres my credit card?.....

Can anybody explain why you American types can buy it for $100 when the UK amazon site lists it at £286. Thats (if my maths is right) nearly $500US?!

@reverend: If that's the case, maybe you should just order it from amazon.com or amazon.ca. I have to say that the price difference seems very peculiar...

i can only assume that there must be some major difference in the format they come in. Maybe the box set on offer from the UK site is 18+ seperate hardbacks and the US is more than one book per volume. Otherwise ill definitely pay the shipping to send it across the pond. If there is no difference ill buy 20, thats a better profit than running drugs!

Anyone know any details about this omnibus edition? It was supposed to come out at the end of last month, but Amazon still lists my preorder as "items not yet sent"... I want this so bad.

I FINALLY got the chance to see Master & Commander the other day. That was an enjoyable 2 1/2 hours out of my evening. Oh yeah, it's one heckuva movie...
