Officer dialogs on Fred Bob Quest

CatalinaThePirate

Unholy Terror,

I forgot I meant to answer this:

<!--`QuoteBegin-alan_smithee`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(alan_smithee)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Speaking of dialog bugs, Cat, have you had a chance to restore B11 officer dialogs to your FBQ?[/quote]Alan, I took a look at it and as far as I can see there's nothing wrong. Fred Bob has the dialogs and so do the other officers... I'm not sure what you're missing, unless you had FB as an active officer in a spot that needed to be vacant - for some odd reason FB lost all his FBSpeak and just had NORMAL dialog... I had to go back to an earlier save to fix it.

I'm going to start a new thread for this... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Now that I've started a new thread, please tell me what your trouble was about the FBQ dialogs, Alan. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Me and some others noticed that once the FBQ is installed (I'm 90% certain that's the responsible mod), all officer dialogs revert from B11's format of, upon first speaking with an already hired officer, him asking you what your concern is and you have the choice to tell him, "About the crew... About the ship... About me... About you", to an earlier format where all dialog options/actions are immediately available. For one, this removes the option to change an officer's model.

I think you mentioned yourself when others first brought it up that you may have worked off of an earlier officer dialog.

I have had the Build since before its release to the general public, as I was a betatester.

So I'm confused...

Let me download the Build again and I'll have a `look-see`! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

i've installed the fred bob quest by search and replace, rather than file overwriting, and the problem is solved. (this is why we do builds lol <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />) cat, perhaps that version of enc_officer_dialog.c came after the beta version, or perhaps it was in the online update?

Dunno... Haven't had the chance to look at it yet. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Finally got a chance to take a look at this dialog, and I don't care for it. I like the "old way" better. At least then you had a ready made set of clothes you could change into - and the officers clothing you could buy separately. With the new dialog, you can't change into any outfit except one you've already bought!

What I could never understand is why you couldn't buy TWO (or more) sets of clothes for your officers to wear - like an armored version and a "shore leave" set. OR buy more than one set of the same clothes (so you can clothe your officers alike (triplets!)...

Anyhoo, I'm leaving Fred Bob's dialog the way it is, but I'll change the Enc_officer_dialog.c file to reflect the new format so that everyone is not inconvenienced by the old file.

Upload soon... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

yeh catalina, i think that was changed for scheffnow's tailor shop mod. there's not much point in buyable outfits if you can just select any from the dialog <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Funny tho, now I put it into my game to play it the way it's supposed to be (where you have to depend on the tailors for changes of clothing), and now I have EVERY skin available in my "change clothes" utility. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> I didn't buy them at all, only bought one, actually.

Does this need to be in the game when you start (i.e., the Enc_officer_dialog.c) or can it be added after you start and then reinitialized? Because that's what I did (thought I had the updated file in the game before I started, but it was not), and now I have all the clothes...

Weird, hm? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" /> Leave it to me to "break" Scheffnow's Tailor Mod. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
