Officer's adding to companion1

Hi all, I'm Newbie here and this is my first topic. Now closer to problem. I wonder, is it actually possible to add officers to my companions ship? I'we tried, but failed. Can anyone explain is it possible?

I think your question is not clear.
Want to add officers to the 1st ship, or a 2 ^ (or 3^, 4^ etc.)?
The 1 ^ (your ship!) can be up to 13-14 officers.(But you do not have handicaps).
The 2 ^ (and others) only 1 , the Commander.
