I recall hearing this before, but don't recall why this happened. I can save just fine on Windows Vista myself. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Thanks for the speedy replies chaps. Hi Pieter, It saves OK before build13 (unlucky number?). Now I have discovered that it will still save, although not every time...but doesn't record the screen in the 'load' window. All I get is a quick flash of white, (not very erotic though), as I press save. The small square that should record the saved screen then shows just the background. I have to guess the past saves and keep loading until I hit the right one. GRRRR.
For anyone using Vista (Thanks for the tip Stallion, Vista is a strange beast, so I feel at home)~ To save changes in the build h. file you need to turn off UAC in Control/User accounts but the game runs the same afterwards, on or off. It doesn't seem to affect the 'save' glitch I have.
I am also trying to increase the game window so it plays larger than half an A4 sheet on the 24inch screen, since the config. application refuses to load as it can't find itself. This can alter the playing res.? The error code says 'Engine.ini or options file missed'. It strikes me that if the thing can't find itself what chance do I have? It probably needs some alternative therapy. I am fairly sure I don't. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/beer2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":beer" border="0" alt="beer2.gif" /> Well, maybe this...
All in all, a great game. At least the problems keep you thinking, how can we ever be bored???
I have found a complete Ship List posted by a member, Brilliant, must have taken ages, but couldn't live with the spelling/syntax mistakes so spent a year, it seems, highlighting the ships and making a Word Doc. to my taste. It makes choosing whether to change a ship much less of a trial.
Real, as against virtual, sailing is much less stressful. Thanks for the help. Regards, Brian.
