Solved Period Weapons

Quest item types aren't guns though, are they? I don't really know what's going on with them showing up at random. They simply shouldn't.
I wonder if it's got something to do with the qualitized weapons mod. I think it's initialized as such and it doesn't really need to do that.
I'll probably change that. But that still doesn't fix the unique qualitized blades problem. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />
 
Speaking of quest/unique items <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I wouldn't mind having unique items for Jack's piece of 8 and one of his rings.
And the other pieces of 8 as well I'm thinking <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
 
You only really need items of those if the player ends up owning them at some point. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
I wonder... you kill the pirate lords in the various side quests and then you get the items.
When you've got them all, you can mess around with Calypso affairs.

Hmm... maybe make the film version of events first though before making things TOO complicated.
And for the film version, I don't see any particular need for those items, since Jack never did have them.
Apart from his own. Which would be nice to add to indicate that you really DID get something from your father.

There is another piece of 8 that I have already written in as Jack getting.

He eventually "exchanges" this piece with ...'._.... for a ring.
I'm also writing an add to Sumbhajee sidequest if you don't steal the gun that involves his piece of 8

I mean make a new category: Quest Guns in init_items, I did and it seems to work. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
 
Hmm... interesting. I'll have to do some experimenting, I suppose.
Jack Sparrow's pistol was added in an unqualitized way and hopefully will indeed NOT be encountered at random.
But we won't know until we try. If that works, I'll do the same with the shotgun.

So how do we DO properly, completely and utterly add weapons that DO - NOT - SHOW - UP - AT - RANDOM???
There's rather a lot of code added to prevent that and it STILL happens!

I read somewhere that one of these rings that Sparrow has, was given by a Spanish woman who loved him, daughter of a governor (I think).
Captain Maggee could make a new side-quest from this story <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/razz.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":razz" border="0" alt="razz.gif" />

I do want to have sidequests that do not include pirate lords as well as the ones that do.

Thomas the Terror and I were brainstorming attempting sacking the port of Nassau (without firing a shot <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />)

I want Jack to get a souvonier from all of his expeditions (like a ring), or explain something in the movie (like lian and park's giggle <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />)

So it is a mighty possibility

Does anyone have any thoughts on which weapons should be used in which periods?

These weapons are really good, it would be a shame not to have them in-game. Don't tell me, I need to make the interface pictures :modding
 
Somebody will need to; unqualitized at the very least. Maybe Thomas would be willing to do it at some point?
And I agree it'd be unfortunate if your hard work on those weapons would go to waste. :facepalm
