Pirates! won't run

All I get when I try to run Pirates! on my computer is a black screen with a spinning ship's wheel. no error message or anything, just a black screen. I'm running Windows 2000 Proffesional with a visontek Radeon 9200 SE. Does anyone know where I can download the Bios for the 9200? Maybe if I can flash my card with the 9200 Bios I can get it to run.

Windows 2000 Professional is more an OS for work than for playing games. Any servicepacks installed? Tried the newest Catalyst or Omega Drivers? Does this error only accure if you try to play pirates or does other things also make trouble on your PC?

What does "Dxdiag" say about your directx? Ever tried some cleaning tools like "tune up" to solve some registry or other possible problems on your machine?

I've been using Windows 2000 for a long time, this is the first game to give me any trouble. 2000 and XP are, at the core, the same OS with just cosmetic differences. XP is more user friendly but I like the power and flexability 2000 offers. As far as drivers, i'v tried both Catalyst and Omega drivers with no luck. I also have DirectX 9.0C installed. Do you think running Pirates! in Win 98 compatability mode might help?
