Well, I finally reached a fame number of 126 points, after finally getting all the pirate treasure maps... figures the last one would be the hardest to find.

So, I was kinda expecting a marching band or something. I mean, C'mon, I did all that was there to be done and I looked damn good doing it too!

Anybody else have a slight let down with that? Play some special music or a graphic or something. Throw me a bone here! Maybe a special message from Sid in an eyepatch or something <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Oh well, I'll let the game rest until it starts calling me again. Which will be in a few days I am sure.

Ah, good work, but did you do it from start to finish on swashbuckler? or did ya load up on plunder, wives, booty, etc on Apprentice or some such nonsense and then switch over?

Swashbuckler? I'd rather have a root canal! I started and finished on Adventurer level. I'll move up to Rogue `mid-career` next time. Hehe... Swashbuckler... yeah right!

Thanks for the marching band Cat. I did feel better, until someone (who shall remain nameless - Taskforce58) pointed out my lack of Swashbuckler prowess.
 
I was forced to retire at 40 with poor health. Not sure how famous I was. I was the top pirate...Was made a Fencing master, which looked like it was close to the top o' the food chain. Am I wrong?
 
I forget where fencing master is... maybe 5th from the top? I'll have to write down my total wealth and land too. I think I can go one more cruise too and it did not force me to retire last time I divided the plunder to retire.
 
Oh dont feel bad...at this point im thinking anyone who says theyve gotten over 100 fame on swashbuckler ..>STARTING on swashbuckler...and has a pirate less than 40 years old is full of.... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" /> .....yeah....

103 points - yet a few years to go, i think.

Found all family members, killed 8/9 of the cowards, finished Montalban the way he deserved - lifted 9/9 treasures, married the daughter of the Nevis' Gouvernor BUT missed 2 of those Lost Cities(don't know how they are called in the english version...). How do I get more `map-pieces` to find those cities ? The last pirate isn't a problem to catch - the map pieces are.

Finished on swashbuckler (started with apprentice(?)) level with a total of 121395 pieces of gold and 24650 acres(?) becoming a Gouvernor on retirement. Didn't miss any special item nor any specialist ~had them all before i catched Montalban~.

But saving the best for last -> on my last "`panama-run`" i made it english ~~~ and the spaniards didn't manage to get this town back for ~5 years until now... chaning history with this game *gg*.

Ive just finished my adventurer career like yourself Toast.

I decided to retire at the ripe old age of 54 in failing health having completed every status goal bar the Spanish... Even though the game needed it for complete completion (if there is such a thing) I just couldn't bring myself to accept any kind of ranks from them <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Having spent those vast years sailing around Kitts and Nevis and then down through the Spanish cities sacking as I go.. I retired a man living in an entirely English Caribe (bar those poxy settlements)

Just wondering although may be off topic. I kept playing it through from 49 or so onwards thinking I would be forced to retire at 50, but is it that once in failing health you essentially have until your crew morale is so low you have to divide and plunder. Because with a happy crew of 45 I headed off to the beautiful wife to settle down and enjoy my 980,000 odd career earnings with a healthy 70 ransackings. I think my fame score was 8 below the maximum due to my stubborn refusal to deal with the Spanish in anything other than blood <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" />
 
Started with apprentice and retired as a swashbuckler. Found my family members, kicked Montalban's arse, married a pretty daughter (10/10) found the 4 lost cities, bashed all the notorious pirates. Lifted 8/9 treasures. I couldn't find Jean Lafitte's treasure! 125 Points as a spanish Duke. Retired as gouverner at the age of 46.
 
123, started as apprentice, retired on rogue as governor of San Juan (English, mind you <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> ) at the age of 40. Did everything except finishing the Spanish career track (Baron, IIRC).
 
I'm an 'adventurer' with 51 years under my belt and failing health. I'm an English Duke, a Dutch Duke, a Frence Admiral and it's best not to mention my name to the Spanish. I stopped paying attention to the price they put on my head when it went over 70K!

I have 19/24 wealth points, killed all pirates and dug up all their booty, all relatives found, 2/4 lost cities (currently looking for the 3rd), all villains dealt with. Only have 9/10 on romance after i married the daughter at `petit-goave` (confused about that one). 584619 gold, 103 achievements points and my scurvy dogs have been at sea for 317 months. They're still 'very happy' in our large frigate and we're still sailing. My skill was medicine and i had a `life-extending` balm too.

Not bad for my second ever go i think, i never played the original. Next time around i think we'll go 'swashbuckler'.

By accident i started off at the easiest level from which i quickly advanced to swashbuckler. Ended the game in 1687, 47 years old.
Spent the last 15 years (on a sloop and later on a canoe <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> ) with finding the relatives, lost cities, and the 9 treasures...

I saw a pirate ship like that, sailed right through it, no info either.
Well........I retired at 47 I belive, I knew my retirement was imminent so I never divided the plunder after I got Molteban <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" />

Retired with 90K, became a Magistrate, found two relatives, found about 5 treasures and knocked off about 5 pirates as well. Fame was 62 and I never got married cause of my dancing bug. I was the most notrious pirate around and lastly I was sailing under French colors *Duke*, finished on Adventurer.

I got 118 Fame points, I started off pretty badly, I used the defaults so I was proficient in Swordsmanship, started as Apprentice (next time just jump to Swash for next game), and at the 1660.

I gotten all my family members back, and finally took care of Montalban. I was a Duke for all of them (English, France, Dutch and Spain).

I acquired around 250k, and 13k Acres of land.

Only found Inca, and Aztec lost sites, the Mayan and something else wasnt found cause I was outta time (well coulda done it but to do the daughter quests are hard when I need to fight and when your failing health its a whole bloody hard to do it in.... since my skills in pressing correctly is... bad <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> ).

Defeated all pirates and looted their treasures.

I didnt even see a Heavy Frigate Nor a Ship of the line <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />. Oh well I try another era and hopefully see these ships and usem.
 
Yes, well, I see that you became a Govenor, but I plan to become a Nortorius Pirate, and only have bounty on me head, and gold, and ruby rings, similiar to the Top Ten Pirate List.

I also keep score by counting the number of twiddles from the nose I get from Captains in Swordfights in the game.

I figure that I can give them back, by placing my left thumb on me nose, and twiddling my fingers back at them also. I think that a high score of twiddles may be a more accurate score for any time period.

Well, I just finished my first game (the default one) at Rogue level - my fame was 59 or 60, something like that, I retired a fencing master with the beautiful daughter of the gov of Port Royale as my wife (10/10 in romance, heh!)... I neglected to find two of my family, Raymondo and Montalban and Faulkes and seven of the famous pirates are still at large... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

But I had a lot of fun. Just can't resist that juicy merchant ship target... Took a lot of ships... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diomed.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dio" border="0" alt="diomed.gif" />
