POTC Mod Ideas (Build 12)

Ahoy, first of all i want to thanks all the people who worked on the build <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_praise.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="icon_praise.gif" /> , its awesome how a game like POTC went from "not bad, but could be better" to "Excelente !!" <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> .

But here are my ideas about what could be in the next build (if there is any of course) :

- modify the surrender mod a lil bit : what i mean is instead of killing the hostage just let him walk the planks <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pirate2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p:" border="0" alt="pirate2.gif" />

- maybe a bit more movie based skins (comodore norrington, bigs, the mute etc ...) and eventually modify existing chars to had those.

- modify a bit the main quest to give the feeling that you play something a bit more like Potc ... (dont know if its possible so...)

- more stuff to do as a pirate (like missions or quest) and possibility to join the brotherhood like in Sea dogs and thus gaining something of it (kinda like the letter of marque from the other countries)

- and finaly, add a quest or something related to the assassin who are after you (at the begining malcom tells you about one mate who wants you dead but except that you dont know who he is and why he wants you dead...)

Well that's it for now hope those ideas were not already said

Oh oh oh, I'm so excited. I got this skin mod muther all figured out now.

Here's my very first `re-skin`, a Monsignor for a series of extra church quests I'm trying to write in. I don't know about historical accuracy, but I can only assume such a simple, classy outfit hasn't changed much in 350 years.

Funny thing about the underlying model, just like all the females it's not designed to hold a pistol. He'll fire but there's nothing in his hand, and no gun stays at his side (sometimes the gun will just float by itself in the center of a room).

enough with the pessimism!

there will be a build 12. we're certainly going to have enough to put in it. don't be surprised if summer is a quiet time though - everyone's going on holiday <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> but i've nearly finished the full ship berthing mod (granted, it's been 'nearly finished' for weeks now <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />: ) and catalina is nearly there with her fred bob quest, and there are also a few minor mods being made / ready for publishing. never fear!

You know, frankly, I find I hate the taste of rum. Vodka's much more to my liking. But I think I'd like to colour a skin for that Captain Morgan rum guy anyway... maybe give him a quest where he goes around painting red mustaches on everybody.

Cat, I just realized why when I downloaded Maya and the .gm plugin it wouldn't work: The website doesn't have v. 4.5 on it. Is there still a place I could get that?

-What about sailing from island to island without using the map?!
That would be more realistic. U could make it like in the maps. if u limit the 'watermap' there can be loaded another level with an island or something

-Bigger Flags at the ships. the INTECEPTOR got a very big flag at its tail.

-changing weather by playing

-no 'Lines of war' .
more ships which are sailing alone. 'caus then it's possible to capture a big ship with a small shooner or something.

-The abillity to send am admiral out for a raid. *without you* and when he finished the raid, he will meet u somewhere and divide the plunder with u

-maybe u could add some reefs to the islands. then u can get sunken by a reef

or adding estimates to different maps and then u can sell the treasure map from rough bodies in the tavern...

The way PotC is structured, you can't really sail from one island to another by just sailing on the ocean (not the overhead map view). <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

i have been active in an german potc forum and trieed to build an german mod by using many different english mods and make them running at the german version, but there were still sone thing which won't work.
ok, maybe i can help u a little bit by the new build 12.
and just if it is with some ideas.

To the idea to the map:it was just an idea to try =)
but, what about the other ideas?

Your other ideas:

The big flag at the back of a ship is a great idea, and I suppose one only would have to build a ship with a locator there so a large flag could be sailed.

I'm not sure what you mean by changing weather - with Build 11 we do have a weather mod where sometimes it will rain pleasantly, sometimes it will be gorgeously sunny, there are cloudy days, and sometimes there are torrential rains.

If you wish to encounter ships sailing alone, try asking some of the locals of some town about any rumors - they may tell you that someone has just sailed away to deliver something - and if you go out sailing around the island (regular sailing, not with the overhead map), you should encounter them. I *think* that's how the Coastraiders and Coasttraders mod works.

Your Admiral idea is `quest-based`. You (or someone) would have to build a quest around it. I think there may be one or two people working on something similar.

The reefs thing, well, that would entail `re-modding` parts of the ocean floor around islands. Big job. I suppose it could be done.

Treasure maps with coordinates would be tricky, but I am sure it could be done for a quest...

to the changing weather:

The weather mod in build 11 is fantasic! there's sometimes foggy, then are there heavy waves and other stuff. but, what i ment was:

u are sailing and it's sunny heaven, then u look in front of u and there 's coming a big storm wand the weather is changing whitout u have to switch to the map. but i think that it couldn't be done 'cause the game isloading just a given weather setting by leaving the map.

ok, but i'd like to design new ships.
so, can u tell me with which program do i have the ability to open the ship model dates.
Don't worry, i have just been active in the `3D-Modeling` scene for the MS `Train-Simulator`.
Maybe it would be possible to build a ship which got moving shotts (or how the hell these things are called). 'cause then u can get the cannons into the ship.
 
Weird thing about the weather is... very first time I fired up the game with Build11 installed, it was raining inside my cabin during the tutorial! I'll have to change some location characteristic to be inside instead of outside, coz I know they make that distinction somewhere.
