Problem Selling Ships

Landlubber
1) Started new game with new patch as a pirate. A navigation officer was hired and assigned.

2) Took an escort mission to Montsarrat

3) On the way I encountered a Frigate under Dutch colors fighting with pirates

4) Sneaking in (friendly to me) I boarded the Dutch ship and won

5) Unable to capture due to "insufficient tactics skill" of 2 I swapped ships

6) On the journey to my destination I discovered I was being punished for having a ship too big for my character level so I decided I would sell her when I reached my destination.

7) Arrived at port and recieved payment from escortee in the tavern

8 ) Sold all my excess goods from the hold at the store

9) Went to shipyard and clicked "Sell Ship"

10) Ship replaced with a little Tartane (is that right) which sells for 0 credits automatically

11) Tried to buy a sloop but it now says I haven't enough Tactics skill to buy a second ship and I can't sell the Tartane

12) Stuck forever with the lowest ship available that I can't sell

13) Reloaded my save several times and tried several different ways to sell my Frigate for a Sloop and failed

Anyone care to explain??? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
 
umm, try finishing the escort mission, then sell the frigate, that might fix it or other wise, use the frigate and cap a smaller ship. Sorry if this doesn't work

Unfortunately I control this frigate as well as a monkey on a floating beer keg with a spoon for a paddle so going out and capping another ship is out.

Removing my officer from his slot allowed me to sell the Tartane. I am confused. I don't know if it was a fluke or if I could repeat the process.

That Monkey with the Paddle is a BUG, which only happens at the start
of the game. It will disapear later!
And I would stick to Pirates and leave the others alone.This way Everybody

I don't believe that to be a bug. The frigate class of ship should require higher than a level 1 captain to command her successfully.

More troubling however, is the inconsistancies in the selling of a ship.
 
as i 've posted before in another topic, selling a lineship or warship will transform ya into a "happy owner" of a tartane.

but there's more: starting a new game, accidentaly i've sold my lugger. i've got the money and a .... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> tartane.
well.... just like Nosie said: it must be a BUG <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

BUT: it's noy happening ONLY at the beginning of the game. I've sold my <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/danse1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":dance" border="0" alt="danse1.gif" /> warship when i've reached level 25 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />
 
As it was already written it is new bug introduced masterfully in 1.42 patch. To buy a new ship ypu must have a free officer, no matter you just sold your own ship.
 
selling a warship and a lineship and geting the money and the TARTANE <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" /> was with the 1.41 patch <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
indeed i was using the 1.42 patch when sellin' my lugger, i got money andTARTANE <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />
 
Actually, thats not a bug I don't believe, but there is a problem with the scripts. You should be able to do a purchase exchange. There needs to be a second purchase button that is for an exchange.

The reason its not a bug as I see it, this is a game about sailing ships. You can't be out there without a ship, so when you sell your last ship, you wind up with the Tartane.

Still, its a bit hokey to have to be in a position level wise to have an 'empty' squadron slot just to get a new ship.
