Problem sneaking into town

First off, I love this game and find it surprisingly addictive. Unfortunately, I'm having problems sneaking into towns. When I try to sneak, the game runs painfully slow - almost to the point of being unplayable. This is odd because the rest of the game runs very smoothly. I've tried turning the 3D slider towards performance, but that has no impact. Any ideas?

Before I make any suggestions I`d like to know more about your OS and your systemconfiguration. All your drivers up to date? Not too many TSR Progs in the back when you run Pirates? I loook forward to your answers. Maybe I can help you then.

Bingo! It turned out that my drivers needed updating. I guess I should have double checked that before asking for help. Anyway...Thanks for the advice Hafen, I really appreciate it.

slow sneaking into town

hello pirates from the high sea
i'm from paris enjoying this pirates! like i did formely in late 80's ;o)
but i've got the same problem: despite the game runs without any problem when i try to sneak into a ennemy town it becomes bloody slow!!!
i gonna check my drivers this weekend and i gonna try to turn off shadows in the video options but if i still got the problem i'll be happy to read your advices!
