Here's an idea I had which I'd like to run past a couple of ya just to see if:

a) It was possible, and
b) Anybody would be intrested in it

I know that in the past there has been talk of a Sid Meier's Pirates style ball held by the Governor where you can wooo the girl and so on, but there are difficulties with the dancing that can not be overcome.

How about then, I thought, a party by the Governor of a settlement to celebrate a promotion in their service. The conversation could be something like "I hear I'm up for promotion?" and the Governor responce would be "Yes, and to celebrate I'm holding a party in your honour tonight"

You can the either agree or not agree to go. If you didn't agree, you would be promoted as normal and that would be it. If you did agree, it would load up the Town Hall at night with verious members of the settlement there i.e. The Governor, his wife and daughter, the Store keeper and his family, the loan shark and his neice etc.

The idea would be to woooo the local ladies, get missions from high class traders who may be there and perhaps even talk to the Admiral of the nations Navy who would try and convince you to give up your ship, join up full time and sail one of his.

Just a thought.
 
And then you can get the governers daughter to join you on your ship which makes you get a bounty and loose all rank/become enimies with said governers nation :D
 
Sounds like fun for sure. Should be quite possible too. Just need someone to do it. :rolleyes:
 
This sounds a lot like Victorian Social Club territory :p

Which is a good concept, only we need people to put that into action. We've the costumes to look -some- of the part, and locations to make use of. But writing's a chore without someone intimately familiar with the high society stuff. Oh, and coding the huge conversations of course.
 
This reminds me of the dinner room location model from CoAS.
That could be insanely useful for this, but it needs some fixing,
because characters put in chairs end up floating above them instead of sitting in them. :modding

Excellent idea! Turning the Governors daughter Pirate, nice :woot But I don't want to run before I can walk.

Maybe I'll have a word with Bartholomew as it seems to be quite similar to a quest specific location. I can do the conversations, but I'll need help with the rest :facepalm

Like you, I really want to see this in-game, as I think it would add a really good social element. I'd love the challenge of trying to win the governors daughter, although I guess you would need either a high rank or very good reputation to do it. Gov's Daughter: "Oh, your only a Midshipman? Maybe the Tailor's daughter over there would be more your level" :rofl


I would certainly be willing to give it a go, but, at the moment I have no time to do it due to verious other work projects. If nobody else want's to take up the challege, I will, but it won't be for a while, until I have everything else finished.
 
By all means do your other project and then when you have time try and do this one :yes

I like how it could be done on rank, a Midshipman would hardly ever get a shot :rofl

But I think it should take into account a couple other things as well ;)
