Proposed "Sneaky Item Trader" mod - Opinions pleas

Are you serious? Monkey Island could be played on a phone? Isn't it a little long for that sort of thing. Not to mention the screen is so small. If you didn't have to scroll constantly to see the action, you would at least have to scroll to read all the text.

I'm skeptical of it actually being the real and full game.

Back ON topic, I'm having the devil of a time getting this sneaky trader guy to do what he's supposed to do, can't get him to run correctly. I keep trying different commands but it's not happening the way I want it. So I'll keep experimenting...

OTOH I DID split up his dialog so there's something different when you talk to them on different islands... Works pretty cool... I want to diversify a little more, will have to work on that when I have time.

He looks awesome. And he's the same guy on different islands? Pity you can't model a new hat or different mustache each time...

You should rig some of his items to hurt, like the poisonous night's stay at someone's shack, and the exploding chests.

I considered a "round robin" kind of character, you talk to him and he disappears at the end and you don't know where he went, then he turns up on another island - Might still do that, not sure yet... Still need to nail down the action when he runs away when you threaten to call the guards.

Oh yeah, the `Thief-Catcher` or -Buster or something, TM. How about a wallet with a slow leak, so you lose a coin or two every few minutes until you finally catch on? That'd be pretty wicked.

Maybe you could code it to "spend" money at a steady rate... maybe during dialogs or something. Or else, as soon as you buy it, the sneaky trader would get a bunch of money that fell out.

He should sell tobacco products, too. I'm thinking of this fantastic game, "Metal Gear Solid," where you can smoke a cigarette for little reason other than that you look "cool," and you lose a sliver of health with every puff.

And that would of course open the floodgates to exploding cigars...
 
It Star Wars Galaxies using drugs gives you temporary boosts, and can even save your life, however, the after effects are bad including damage to the health pool and lowered skills. In fact, the even have a puking animation in the game. They did a good job thinking of a reason for the stuff, but also recreating the negative effects of the drug.

Perhaps something like that could be added with the Rum/wine in the game. Perhaps it heals but lowers melee? Also, someone could make laudanum that heals a lot, but later cuts your health in half (or something) until you spend two or three nights either in the tavern or in your ship.

Just a thought of course.
