Question about ship's guns

How exactly do they load? I originally played on the 2nd easiest difficulty and they all loaded in the middle always, so I could aim and fire easily. Finding that was too easy, I bumped up to Rogue and like it, except it seems the guns load in spots randomly. Very frustrating when you go to fire and its way off the mark..

Are ye in map view ur chase view,it be a bit harder te fire yer cannons on mark if ye be in chase view <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Get yourself brass cannons. The iron ones were back then prone to honeycombing, which resulted in balls bouncing about inside of them. That this isn´t exactly helpfull as far accuracy is concerned ought to be obvious, and I think on higher difficulty grades things like that enter into the gameplay.

Do you mean that your gunnery is not as accurate? I'm not sure what you mean by how they load... The larger crew you have, the faster you can load your guns. It also helps to have the "gunner" crewmember who can make it a bit easier. And bronze cannons make you a bit more accurate too.

Another thing is to make sure they are all loaded, firing sporadically which ever cannon loads fastest means your never going to be letting off the right shots. That said the way they open up does allow you to let off half a round if they are on target <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> The random loading aspect I guess is an indication that your crew aren't robots <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

How do they load? Always too dang slow...always...and especially when that enemy frigate managed to get the wind guage on you and is about to lay in a nasty broadside. I dont care if ive got 225 men on a 40 gun large frigate, they STILL dont load fast enough for me to be satisfied lol. And no, im not gonna go around with 12 - 24 cannon on a beautiful ship like that hehehehhe. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whippa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":whipa" border="0" alt="whippa.gif" />

So hmm, maybe i'm just being too hasty then and need to incoporate full loads into combat strategy? I'll try it.

But what I meant was on the easier ones, no matter how many cannons were loaded it always fired from the same part of the boat like this:

|
|---
|---
|---
|

Even if it was just 1 or 40 loaded, it always fired from the center (and outward towards the edges when more were loaded)

Finally I found a gunner for my ship after I have completed almost everything in the game. What the heck do I need him for now?
I wanna send him to Davy Jones Locker! But I can't! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/modding.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":modding" border="0" alt="modding.gif" />

Hi fellows...

I hoped so much to have a more realistic sea battle in the new Pirates then from the old once and all other Pirates wanna be.

But we are still shooting with 40 cannons on 1 side? As far i understand it... If we arent? Then well it splits the cannon sides into 20?

But by why then... do it fires out 40 and then reloading the 40 once again? Also few ships have 2 or up to 4 cannons in the rea of the ship... but still we cant shoot backwards at all, either can the enemy.

I whised so much to be able to have splited sides on my ship, for exempel my Large Frigate having 18 on each side and loading and firing inviduel on each side deppendly wish side you fire the broad side on the enemy ship... the 2 other cannons in the back and also should be able to shoot backwards.

And i would been glad if it takes times to turn the ship and fire on side and turn the other side and fire that one too... due because it takes a longer time to reload the cannons like in the real life... some arcade is ok... but so much arcade in the new Pirates is just to much...

Boring in the end :-(

Cheers

A N.

Well, the original game was pretty arcade like the begin with - so this one is not much of a switch from that.

I actually got my ship in between two enemy ships and when I fired, both sides fired - in both directions. It was pretty cool.

Sorry you don't like the game. Maybe you should look for more of a naval simulation type of game.

Awesome I wondered if that was possible <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />

Yeah, it wasn't pretty though as one side was a frigate and the other side a well armed galleon. I hit them with both shots, but the hit me too... I was lucky to get out of that one with my arse intact!

Argh <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> Good work Cap'n <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />
