Question Regarding Weapons Locker

I think that will become rather complicated; I don't really know how to do that or if it's possible at all. It might be possible, but it won't be easy.

well, i'll see if i survive everyone attacking at the same time then. what worries me is how you can then take on the soldiers in a fort. it's pretty impossible then.

That is what one would call "a challenge". With CCC's -2 hit points per block addition, suddenly the dungeons have become dangerous again! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

actually, more deadly than with the stock game when at a low level. and i thought it was hard enough back then! i got killed pretty often. at a low level, even with blocking corpses, it's pretty tough. giving a damage penalty when blocking would make it literally impossible. HOWEVER! this WOULD solve the problem of being able to loot a dungeon and get a rediculous amount of cash at a really low level. now, a dungeon means certain death at a low level, but gets do-able past level 3 when you have toughness. then it still gets pretty easy from then on. the evil stormy start mod would greatly improve because of this. but with these changes, even at level 20, you would get killed pretty fast when you would fight the soldiers in a fort. i'm having trouble enough defending myself against two soldiers, let alone 4 or 5! (attacking at the same time of course. it is in fact possible to have 6 of them attack you at once.) the problem would be, that you would survive one attack, remain weakened, and get completely sluaghtered after the second attack. you don't even get the chance to think about attacking yourself, as it would be absolute suicide to let your guard down.

It is doable to go looting in the dungeons at level 1 with the unobstructing corpses and -2 damage when blocking. I tested it myself. But instead of being completely safe, it's now quite risky to do so. I did get killed myself eventually after being so stupid to take a too big risk. Which is how I would like it to be: Not impossible, but quite risky.

I worry about the -2 damage hit not being enough at high character levels. At level 1 you have 40 hp, so -2 makes quite a difference. By the time you have a few hundred hp points, the -2 damage hit when blocking doesn't matter anymore. Perhaps we should make this damage hit increase with character level, either liniar or by using the square root of the character level.

yeah, and ruin my entire own-everyone-with-my-sword fun. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

just curious: how did you do it?

Talking about that 'toughness' thing, I don't like it at all. On build 13 and at level 3, you are immediatly cured each second, wich means you are invincible no matter what your oponent do - unless he kills you in one strike. I tried the evil stormy start mod, found a blade and managed to get to level 3 and have this ability. Then my character killed over a hundred people in a town, earned a huge amount of money, blades & guns. So unrealistic. It spoiled all the evil stormy start mod. I had to launch back the savegame and choose another ability.

In AOP, you do get damage if you block, but it didnt damage your HP, but SP (your energy) in aop you cant attack infinite times, if your energy is used, you have to regain it with doing nothing, pretty annoying when you are facing a boarding party in your own. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Did what? Survive a visit to the dungeons at level 1 with all the new settings? Simple: Hit and run tactics, making good use of my pistol and using enough potions. Try and fire at an enemy before he got to you, then kill him with two or three strokes of your blade. That is quite doable. Though it becomes harder when there are more opponents.

I have toned down that ability a bit in the Alpha, but I'm not sure if that change is included in Alpha 5 or not. In any case: I reckon toning down that ability isn't a bad thing. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":wp" border="0" alt="whistling.gif" />

even if you toned the toughness ability down in this build version, i think that it still goes a bit too fast. well, i do block, so maybe it doesn't, but if you block, you still never get killed. however, with the new corpse system, i think that the toughness ability could prove to be just right, as you get hit much more frequently.

The block change isn't in Alpha 5 yet. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

i know that, but when it IS, it could prove that the health increase could be just right. at the moment, it's still a little too high.
