Questions on Build13Full

Brenda

Landlubber
Due to the extreme kindness of one of the members here, I now have Build 13 Update 1 & 2. However, I do have a couple questions, so please indulge me.

1) I found in the InternalSetting where you can change the number of Skill Points earned per rank increase. Where I can change the number of Ability Points (FreePoints) earned per rank?

2) Is there a way to move just single coins from one place to another?

3) And, I was wondering what the item code is for the various types of armor?

Thanks everyone for your understanding. I am just to tired and too blonde to do a search right now.

I hope to be able to install B13U3 this coming weekend. Though there are things I don't like, but what game doesn't have it's drawbacks, I really love the new stuff- muskets, armor, better swords, dead albatross. And, I like not having to use the disk to play.

Well, a kind and generous soul here sent it to me.

I think what Morgan means is that updates 1 & 2 are in the full Mod 13, so why would you have separate updates 1 & 2. Only update 3 is separate.

I am not familier with the code for the game so I cannot answer any of your code questions.

Regarding moving money, you can only move it in amounts of 100 dollars, not single dollars.

Hope I have helped.

yes, you don't need those two. you only need update 3, which you can get from pieter's site.

Sorry morgan, I misunderstood what you were asking. As for Update3, I should be getting it here soon; again due to the kindness of others.

However, I was still wondering what the item code is for muskets, Bosun's Choice cutlass and the various types of armor? I would like to add them to my inventory when I start a new game. (Yeah, I know it is cheating, but then aren't most mods? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" /> )

Check PROGRAM\ITEMS\initItems.c. All item ID's you need can be found there.

Found them. Thank you, Pieter. Perhaps you know if there is a way to increase the number of Ability Points (perks.-) earned per rank. It is at 1 and I would like to get 3 per rank. I found in Internal Settings where to increase the number of Skill Points (skill.-) per rank, but I could not find anything regarding Abilities (perks.-).

I kind of wish the part concerning Skills, Abilities, Experience and Rank had been left as in the stock game. That way, players could "fine tune" their starting stats in a number of different ways; not just rank and money.

<img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />  you can change settings in Programs/Characters/Character_init.c
used to be one in the English folder to fiddle with in the Banna version, which is still there but useless!

why don't you just change the skillmode back to the old one in the buildsettings?

I think I found it. PROGRAM\Characters\CharacterUtility.c:<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->        if(CheckAttribute(_refCharacter,"perks.FreePoints"))
        {    _refCharacter.perks.FreePoints = sti(_refCharacter.perks.FreePoints) + 1;
        }
        else
        {    _refCharacter.perks.FreePoints = 1;
        }<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->Change "+ 1" into "+ 2" or whatever you want. You could also make this an InternalSettings.h setting, if you like.

The characters_init.c file in the PROGRAMS\Characters\English folder is not used. The characters_init.c file in the PROGRAM\Characters folder IS used though.

Thanks Pieter, that was it. The code in the characters.init file appeared to indicate the values had been to correspond to character rank (ch.rank). So, it was just a matter of finding where those defines were at. Didn't even think of Utilities. Thank you again. You and morgan have been a great help to me and very patient with my many questions.

EDIT: Oh, I just got B13U3 and B14 with the latest updates. I was wondering if I have to change all the settings back to default or will the updates just overwrite them?
(See, I can't seem to stop asking questions- someone stop me before I question again. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/slap.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":slap" border="0" alt="slap.gif" /> )

All settings will be reset to default. You can change them to your liking again afterwards.

yes, that's what i said. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
