The Ranks in the game bothered me from the start.
I can hardly imagine a Duke walking in a Haventavern to recruit scum or to duell himself with some annoying Captain for a barmaid... And wy would a Gouvernor - who most probably is not even a noble himself, "promote" a Marquis to Duke ?? Besides of that, all the ranks with the exception of Captain and Admiral were lubber ranks... So i decided to do something about it...
I replaced the lubber ranks with more maritime ones:
captain -> lieutenant
major -> commander
colonel -> captain
admiral -> commodore
baron -> rear admiral
count -> vice admiral
marquis -> admiral
duke -> lord
I am aware of, that some of the Ranks, may have beeen uncommon in the time/area of the game (as far i know only the "Commander" is really more modern, while "Lieutenant" was not a commanding officer but rather his deputy that times) In the end you can still be risen to nobility and become a Earl. If You have more appropriate suggestions, say a word...
I have modified the `Pirat-o`-pedia accordingly.
Since i am sure, being a true Pirates you will not be rearing the readme, i will place it here too:
NOTE ON INSTALLATION
opedia_enu.txt goes to the custom folder
text.ini is to be put in the /Pirates/Assets Folder NOT in the custom folder - at least it didn't worked for me, as did not paking the file to a .fpk
To remove the mod, just delete the files. Hope you liked it.
If you want to use this together with the Parrot Mod by Rupertlittlebear, wich is better, you should look here
If you want the ranks only, get it here.
And Thanks to Pirates Ahoy! for the PublicFTP
