Ahoy there! As you can see there's a new face here.

I've just had a little idea that could be interesting? What would you think about a reskin of the british flag to replace it by this one :

It would be wonderful behind a MOW <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> and more over, maybe more historical, but i'm not sure about that i don't know the flags history very well... I had this idea, but unfortunately, i don't have any notion in skinning

i may be wrong on this but it's been my beleif that the white ensign was only introduced after nelson kicked some froggy butt at trafalgar. i may be wrong but i was under the impression that before that the british navy used the red and blue ensign

After a quick google search I found that, that will might bring us some responses

This flag seemed to be used from the early 18th century to the begining of the 19th century.

Before that, that was the union jack, depending on the time ou play it can be historical or not (I think i'll manage to jump in 1707 if it's possible Hmmm but if i remember correctly the begining of the 18th century was also the time were pirates declined... so complicated <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> )

that first link kinda explains it all then. either the red blue or white ensign will work for before 1864. i guess it comes down to if you want to be a commodore of the red white or blue. perhaps we could make that an optoin of some kind.

Just to hop in with my two pence, but this was the common Royal Navy ensign from the period, up until 1707:

The pennants were the St. George's Cross at the widest end, along with the color red, white, or blue to denote the squadron the ship belonged to. They did fly a "catch all" pennant, however, which would work well and be historically accurate:
