Santisima Trinidad (HolyCow!!!!)

Look at the post...someone is gonna convert but He has many things to do on his plate <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> ....i think we well never see this ship ingame <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> ..

I could´t help it, I would like to have this ship in the game but this design as it is on the picture doesn´t seem to me good enough for implementation into the game. I think this ships might be substantially rework or done completely newly, so as she could compete with current Manowars in the game. I hope I didn´t offend anybody. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" />

Ahh I forgot Inzane was going to try...I think things have calmed down for him, but I haven't talked to him for about a week or two. Perhaps he'll come back and surprise us all! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":blah:" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Well probably we didn't hear anything from him about his 74 ship of the line <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

Yes, but that lovely thing wouldn´t work in the game <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
His Surprise, however seemed to work, so, hopefully, we´ll get that for starters.

I don't think this model really fits in with other PotC models, because she wasn't made for PotC, but for Virtual Sailor. She's also really high poly (but would've had a whooole lot more polygons if I hadn't modeled some lower poly guns for her that Andrés Merino, the modeler, added instead of the `high-poly` ones he tried to use).

If it comes in PotC ya can be damn sure I'll get meself 3 of those <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
(need a free slot to capture ships after all <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" /> )

How high poly? 20k?
And how much of that is sails, rigging, and ratlines? (POTC `auto-generates` all of them).
If it's less than, oh, 15k, after subtracting that stuff, it's probably fine for POTC, especially in this age of T&L videocards. Polycounts aren't so important compared to texture memory these days I'd think, and my guess (from looking at the model) is that the textures are mostly lowrez?

Actually, I remembered it was in X, and had a look.
I'd guess we could trim about `5-10k` faces by getting rid of all the rigging; but since we start at 50k anyway, I see your point.
However, it also looks like we could trim one heck of a lot by converting the posts on the stern galleries to either 3sided, or just done via opacity map. Same with the belaying pins.

Pieter, does the author have still a copy of the file when it was not all one object?

And forgive me for not saying so earlier; looking at the model brings it home. She's a really beautiful work. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doff.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":doff" border="0" alt="doff.gif" />

I've talked to Inzane about this one, just not in a while...he said that he'd take off most of the stuff, leaving just the hull and whatnot. Like Nathan said, the rest is generated by PotC. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens.

<!--`QuoteBegin-NathanKell`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(NathanKell)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Pieter, does the author have still a copy of the file when it was not all one object?[/quote]I suppose he does. I haven't heard of him for quite some time, but I'll ask him. Hope he's somewhere available.

I just asked Andrés and he doesn't object to putting her into the game. I also asked if he still has the original .max file, but he doesn't have it where he is now. He said he'd ask a friend of his to get it though, so with a bit of luck, we'll be provided with the original file soon.

Ditto!
Thanks for both, Pieter!

I can't model ships too well, but I can edit made ones, so if no one else wants to I'll see what I can do to reduce the facecount.

Fellow Captains!

What happened to this project? Last entry is dated... 6 years ago...? Is there any way to sail the Santisima Trinidad in PotC or any other similar game?

Thanks!

Talk about resurrecting the dead... this thread is ancient! :328_skull:
I've no idea what happened to the Santisima Trinidad mentioned in this thread, but I do know that one is in production.
Or it WAS until the modeller stopped posting updates... the model is currently sitting in some virtual shipyard, unfinished. :cry
Whether it's related to this one, I've no idea. You may want to check the separate thread in Storm Engine Modelling for more info about it.
