ship surrender needs one more option

Pirates! assumes that you're a flat out `black-hearted` murderer. They should also give the option to let a plundered ship go free. If you plunder then sink 10 ships, you are seriously `mass-murdering` hundreds of people. That's a bit evil for the handsome hero of the game.

Let me get this straight.. you are a pirate, you will attack on site, shoot cannons at them, steal everything they own and you are worried about the few crew that survive your onslaught?

Pirates were, as a rule, flat out `black-hearted` murderers. But that aside, I think if you read the screens, it says that the crew that won't join you are left on a nearby island. If you watch closely, you will see that no one ever actually "dies" in Pirates!.
 
Yup, the rubber balls that your cannons shoot merely bounce the crew off the deck into the sea. The remaining enemy crew either join you or get left on a nearby vacation resort...

No death in the game...

I hope we get a bit more adult version in the future - either through mods or patches or sequels... I wouldn't mind battling against scurvy so much (in a game!).

Hey, I'm as blood thirsty as the next buccaneer, all I'm saying is that it should at least be an option. It's a pain to keep stringing all those trade galleons along and seems kind of ridiculous just to fire a perfectly good ship just because you're stealing from them. In the heroic, movie pirate theme they introduced it seems there would be room for the "gentleman" pirate types.
 
I use a mod that when you go into dueling mode, it replaces the dueling characters with your choice of mortal kombat characters. I like to keep blood mode on, and the fatalities are just like they were in the original. I normally pick subzero and do his freeze attacks until I can pull out my ice grenade and send pieces of frozen Blackbeard all over the deck.

Some bad tongues would say this mod unbalances the game a lot and it´s some kind of cheating. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dp_nogd.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ng" border="0" alt="dp_nogd.gif" />

Ask yourself: Where`s the fun if a game was too easy? And in my opinion Pirates is easy without any cheating.
 
Actually, it's a historically `little-known` fact that Blackbeard had a freeze ray weapon. He would aim it enemy ships and zap them into these huge `ice-balls`. His biggest problem was chipping the booty out of the hold with an `ice-pick`. It was why he used the matches in his beard, to keep warm.
 
I do not wish to get into any great debate concerning this topic, so I will post only this.. I have no problem with someone using whatever they want to (cheats/trainers/etc) in order to enjoy a game they purchased, after all, the point of a game is to have fun .. IMHO <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
