Alan, if you get the "outside" soundbytes to work in the game, I'll be darned impressed and send you a request to edit one of mine! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Yes, they are all just .wav files. You would THINK just any old .wav file would work, but nooooo, not, at least, on MY computer. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/urgh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":urgh" border="0" alt="urgh.gif" />
It's the ini's, and also of course your character profile where you need to be sure the "Gr_whatever.wav" is the designated wavfile to play.
Seriously, I tried with outside files and it either does not work or the sound is screwed up and very low and distorted, or it even can crash the game. I think it's the way the game handles playing the sounds - All I can figure is that you have to have it at a certain kHz (I think 22) and recorded MONO... I tried that but the results were really crappy. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":c" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />
<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Dunno what else to say. I'm not at home, but will be tomorrow and I'll be able to look into this further. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
