So how is build 14 coming along?

For my small part:
I have extended the Hornblower Quest - but it is not a complete story yet.
I am currently extending the Jack Sparrow quest (and multiple sub quests) to ultimately link it back into the Jack Sparrow Story (Curse of the Black Pearl). I am getting close to an initial finish but am a week or two away yet.

Hope that helps.

ok. I have the files now.

Problem: after adding these files to B14A8 I can't start the game. ENGINE.EXE says: abnormal program termination or something like this...
How to fix it?

You can't have downloaded them, since they are not out within a few weeks, Short Jack Gold just said. So you have downloaded files for a previous build and this causes the crash.

SO please, if you don't know how to do such things, don't play Build 14 8! And don't install loose files.

sigh?

Those files are for a previous version of build 14 8a, so they aren't compatible. The files SJG is making, are the ones that will work, but THEY AREN'T RELEASED YET!

I hope that made it clear for you.

It is not recommended to install files from the FTP, unless you know what version they were meant for.
A lot of files on the FTP are meant for various intermediate Alpha versions.

Indeed I would also be very interested to know what has been going on lately.
I have been too busy to even visit the forum for two weeks.
Has anyone heard from Pirate_KK? And is there any other exciting progress?

He has made progress on the different flag mod and a ship upgrading mod AND a new loading system. I have it now, the flags aren't fully functional (pennants and such don't work YET, just something in the gms that needs doing thingies) but my game crashes a lot! It is not stable. And pirate_kk is working on it.

He only needs the font1.tga.tx file though.

Damski62 and I are trying to learn how to build ships from scratch. We are currently both working on a 1665-corvette (its called fregate, but is only 30 guns) and are still doing the hulls. While damski62 really seems to get the hang of it, I am making more slow progress. We work in Maya 5.0, and it IS quite a timeconsuming process, learning to model! I dare not even think of how I will ever learn how to put textures on. So..don´t expect anything ingame soon, if ever!

But what you once learned, nobody can take away from you, I guess <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

That sounds interesting <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

That sounds pretty good.
I'll be looking forward to returning home and joining properly again.

Seeing that you and Damski62, you are using Maya 5.0, could you install into POTC the gallows model that you can find in my folder:
<a href="http://piratesahoy.net/potc/Bartolomeu%20o%20Portugues/" target="_blank">http://piratesahoy.net/potc/Bartolomeu%20o%20Portugues/</a>

I sure will do everything I can, bartolomeu. I think damski62 is already up to his shoulders in work with charactermodeling, but i´ll have a look into it.

EDIT: I will have to pull out of this one. It needs locators and I dont know anything about them.

Thanks for trying PeterWillemoes ! I hope, you and Damski62 will find a solution. Could you explain what exactly is this problem of locators ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Appearently, this kind of models should be assigned as AMMO, and have a start- and end-locator. Thats were I was thrown off <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I managed to add those using Inez' TOOL at some point.
It doesn't really matter what coordinates you put in.

So, there is a possibility to solve this problem ? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

If the start and end locator problem is the only one, then yes.
If that is the case, the model should work ingame, but only generate an error message.
Could be easily rectified.
