spyglass

I just discovered something else that is not in the manual. If you hit "S" while at sea, you pull up a spyglass. The game slows down the real time and you can look around and can actualy see farther than you can by pulling back on the wheel. Also great for checking out ships when you are crusing with the wind and want to give a good look over before deciding on plunder. I wonder if this is what was supposed to improve when you upgrade your spyglass. Experimentation is in order. After work.

Looks like this manual leaves a lot out. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> Hope this iwasn't done so that you would have to buy the strategy guide.

It is in the lower right menu when on land, but not when out to sea.

ANYWAY, i know i've used it in the navigation screen so i read about it somewhere (hot key page in manual perhaps?). i'm not one to <i>discover</i> it by accident by pecking at all the keys to see what they do. maybe i did read about it in the strategy guide! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" />

thats right...that is the spyglass. what everyone else is talkin about is just a change of view, which you can do by hitting '9' on the keypad
