store problems

Doober

Buccaneer
Storm Modder
Peiter, I just installed the latest updates for the postbuild and the new island updates and for some reason, I can't talk to any of the store owners. The Greenfort and Concercao owners won't speak at all and the Redmond says "Can't load ThomasReilly dialog.c" When I try to speak to him. Do you know what would be causing this?

Me too just restarted the game withthe new updates and i get no dialogue in Oxby store <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bounce.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":b:" border="0" alt="bounce.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, mateys.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/poet.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hmm" border="0" alt="poet.gif" /> Hmmm... sounds strange. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dunno.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shrug" border="0" alt="dunno.gif" />

I've just installed everything new... the latest Mod Pack, New Islands and updates... and so far haven't had any problems. I've started a new game as required and am only a short way in, but I've been to the stores at Conceicao and Redmond so far with no evident problems. I'm on my way to Greenford and Oxbay next, so will see what happens and report back in if I have trouble.

Cheers, mateys <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

I tried reinitializing several times just to make sure but it still didn't help. I was wondering if the order of the postbuild updates and the new island updates made a difference. I installed the new island update and then the postbuild update. Grrr, I wish I knew more about coding. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Important: After you have installed the latest modpack release, you need to install the new islands update (the small file on my site) on top. Otherwise the game will use some files that are meant to be used without the new islands. Strange things happen when you try that and it is not recommended. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Hmmm... I think that could be your problem.

I think you need to download all the post mod updates first and then the New Island Mod and update last. I think Pieter mentioned that in a recent post.

Try reinstalling in that order.

Cheers, mate. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Arrgh! Thank ye maties, that could be the problem, I shall try it this evening! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Aaaarrgghh.... no worries, matey.

I'm really enjoying the "new world" so far. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

Good luck.

Cheers <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

You don't need to install the full new islands mod as the last file. But make sure the last file you install is the new islands update. It will replace some files that are to be used without the new islands with the files that <i>are</i> to be used with the new islands.

Well, that did fix the stores. I am still missing other dialog, but not as crucial. Probably the most important one is the ships. When I do an at sea encounter, it won't tell me what nation the ships are from. Also, when hiring officers they won't say what kind of an officer they are. Sorry about all this confusion Pieter, you must be busy enough without having to deal with all my bugs. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

Maybe if someone's is working properly, they could give me the order in which they installed it.

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, Doober,

Sounds like you've installed in the correct order now, so don't worry about that anymore.

There are still a few dialogue problems which can be partially fixed. Check my post and Pieter's reply in New Islands Bugs thread and also Post Build 12 Mod Pack Updates thread. Pieter has a temporary partial fix there and, time permitting, will update his site soon. Hopefully a full fix will be on the way soon.

Cheers, matey <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Hi doober,

I think your problem is because of the common.ini file in the new islands update pack. It is less recent that the one in the last Post build 12. Pieter has explained it in another thread. Please check the following post to resolve your problem.

<a href="http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?showtopic=6164&view=findpost&p=131760" target="_blank">http://forum.piratesahoy.net/index.php?sho...ndpost&p=131760</a>

Maximus has changed several things in the code so that the game can be translated by clicking a button. However, this might have caused some of the bugs that are being reported, because some of the texts aren't being displayed (properly). Maximus said yesterday that he'd send a new update today, so it should be coming up soon.

As far as updating the downloads on my site: I've been rather busy with school lately and I probably will be for the coming weeks. I don't know how much time I'll be able to spare for updating modpacks, let alone do any bughunting/bugfixing. I'll try to do <i>something</i> though.
I'm also becoming rather tired, because I'm working almost all the time. If I'm not doing schoolwork, I'm doing PotC work or Virtual Sailor work. And I'm not exactly sleeping well, though I do try. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hi.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":gday" border="0" alt="hi.gif" /> there, Pieter.

I'm sure I can speak for most if not everyone here and say that we all greatly appreciate the work you do here. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/me.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="me.gif" /> Just don't burn yourself out with work overload, particularly don't have a negative impact on your education. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" /> Keep up the great work, but only when you can afford to.

All the best.

Cheers, matey <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" />

Thanks all! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/par-ty.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheers" border="0" alt="par-ty.gif" /> I will try these suggestions when I get home. Pieter, we greatly appreciate all your work, like Jack said, don't wear yourself out on it, we like you for more than just your mod, and it would be a pity for you to burn out because of it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
