Store trouble?

MillyRainbow

Landlubber
Ive been having a bit of trouble with the store. I cant seem to fill my ship up with certain items, like food, or cannon balls. I havent had this problem to much, so its not that much of a big deal, however...

This is what im getting at the moment. I cannot buy more than 109 food, which weighs up to 218 lbs, leaving 79 pounds of free space. As you can see this isnt about my gold either, as i have 156,446 gold, and the total cost for the food is nearly 3,500.
Im currently transfering this to my Xabec which one of my officers is sailing. Both of which stats can be seen below.

Im running under the realistic settings, and the level restriction settings, so the officer thats sailing the ship is one class lower than the Xabec (class 6)
Iv had this problem before with cannon balls, and maybe other things, but i havent noticed it to much yet.
Is there a reason for this, or is it a bug?

oh yeah and whats the middle number between the yours and the shops total gold.

Stores will sometimes not sell you all the Food or Rum you want. --- they keep enough to feed the town's people so they don't starve. :urgh

Have not encountered them not selling cannonballs and other items though :eek:k As far as I know the limits only apply to Food & Rum.

:mm

The limits apply to shot and powder also. You can usually buy all of their trade goods but they won't sell more until a certain minimum stock level is reached. It is most noticed when one has a lot of large ships with their large appetites. In the NH storyline I use small to medium ships until it is time to go to Cozumel. I then acquire some big ones, and it can take quite a while with trips to many islands before they are fully stocked with food, rum, shot, and powder. There are some truly huge galleons out there that can take everything even a large colony has all by themselves. :warr

I don't know what that middle number is either.

Yeah thats what i figured :will It usually has heavy restrictions on ball and powder in the places where theres big forts, like Antigua where the british naval base is.

As for the middle number i think it has something to do with the starting price difference, because the more of the stock you buy, the higher it gets, and the more of the stock you sell, the lower it gets. Id look into more, but unfortunately, i will have to restart my game since build 14 finally exploded from the excessive crashes. :modding
Theres also that number in parentheses right next to the price as well, which could be the price difference..... :hmm

That number in parenthesis is, I think, the price per unit.

i have a theory after looking at it earlier today, i believe that the parenthesis is what your paying per unit, and the middle number is the base price per unit. When you look at the middle number at the bottem between yours and the shops gold, you will find that thats the same number as the price of the item that you are buying, and it remains the same number as the price, even after the price changed after buying the stock. :will

I've started watching those numbers, and they go up as you are buying that item. I believe the lower number is the purchase price and the upper number in parentheses is the price if you were to immediately sell that item back.

huh, i never thought of it that way. ill check it out and take a couple of screen shots so we can compare :onya we'll figure this out! :keith

One thing that I never thought of and need to look into is, does the cost of an item go up as you are buying it? Or are you buying it at the original price no matter how much you buy?

i checked it out and took some pics to show what iv discovered. this character has max commerce and has all 3 of the trading skills.

heres some pics of my character buying ale. i buy 118 in total. heres how the numbers work for me. (sorry if the pics are to big D:)

store1.png

heres me preparing to buy ale for my armed merchantman the Cerberus. the current price is 9 and sell price is 6. i currently have 312739 gold

store2l.png

now heres me at 0 ale on the buying list. the cost is 0 the parenthesis is 0 and the number at the bottom is 9

store3.png

at 1 ale the price goes to 9 and so does the parenthesis

store4.png

heres at 42 ale. at 41 the number at the bottom is a 9, but at 42 the number changes to a 10. now if you do the math 41x9 is 369. which means the number at the bottom is what your paying at now per unit of the stock. this also means the price changes as you are buying.

store5.png

heres at 82, (41x9)+(40x10)= 769. add 11 to that and you get 780..
everything after this begins to confuse me (=w=; im getting a little confused.. and its 4 am...) so if someone could check the work....

store6.png

heres at 115 and it changes to 12

store7.png

heres at 118 where the number in parenthesis changes from 9 to 10.

store8.png

and the last.. this shows the final prices after i bought 118 barrels of ale. as you can see its 12 (same as the bottom number) and the sell price remains a 6. and i currently have 311559 gold which means i spent 1180 gold that it shows i should have spent.

so far it LOOKS as if the parenthesis is what youre paying after the commerce and bargains such set in, and the number at the bottom is the base buy price, and the price of what your buying increases in value as it goes up, but not as a whole.. if that makes sense xD ie... two unites are worth 10 gold gold each and then you add two more unites and the price increases by 1 gold making them worth 11 gold, and totalling out to 42 gold,( the first two unites being worth 20 in total and the last two being worth 22 gold in total...)
anyway its now 4:57 am.. and im going to sleep :doff
