Stuck: Cannot Pay Crew (help pls)

First off, hello everyone. I have just recently heard about your great mod for POTC and I wanted to give it a try.

Here is how the install went:

1)Stock POTC
2)Build 13 Final (the 312MB file)

The game starts up and runs fine. The Load game option works good because so far I am using it a lot (keep dying every 5 minutes). I haven't played the stock game and the learning curve seems to be pretty steep at the moment.

The problem I am running into is when it is time to pay the crew at sea my options for Pay or Not Pay does nothing. The button moves in and clicks but then nothing. If I hit escape I get dumped on an island. I've tried 10 or so times now with the same result.

After searching this board I found one tip about resetting my keys. I went into options under Controls and clicked on Default. I tried it again with the same results of not being able to pay. What am I missing here? I also tried the F11 key and the F12 key, the new and old interface as well. Nothing seems to work. I even tried a new install.

Is there a different way of resetting my keys or is there something else I can try to fix this?

Go to your C:\ ...\POTC\Program\Worldmap directory and open the worldmap.c file in notepad.

Change it to <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->#define MAPSPEED    1.0<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

are you talking about handing out the booty? in that case, go to a loanshark. however, i've you're using the regular system, it seems like you have a problem there. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> even if what petros has told you doesn't work, i still highly recommend doing it. it fixes a lot of crashes.
 
That is a very weird issue indeed. We have heard no reports of that one before. You can try to install Build 13 Full (available from <a href="http://potc.moddb.com)" target="_blank">http://potc.moddb.com)</a> and see if you have the same problem with that version. You need to remove the game from your HD before reinstalling though; otherwise many newer files will still be there, which could cause interference.

Question: Which original game version do you have? There are many different language versions, so perhaps that makes a difference.
 
The world map speed didn't fix the problem.

I am trying your link now. It is an odd problem. While I'm out to sea (world map) after 20 something days a full screen menu pops up which reads, "Your crew demands its monthly salary. Will you pay them?". There is a button for Yes and for No.

Clicking on the buttons does nothing at all. The menu stays up. Reclicking does nothing.

The version that I have is english. I ordered it from Amazon but it seems to be a late production run or something. It came in a standard DVD case with two CD's in it.. no manual. The manual is on the CD. The box says UBISOFT EXCLUSIVE Pirates of the Caribbean Bethesda softworks.
 
Still nothing.

After the reinstall and before I installed build13_final I tried the game and it let me pay the crew when they demanded it.

Then I installed build_13 and I am stuck at the menu to pay or not pay the crew.

I'm stuck.
 
That is REALLY weird. Never heard of this one before. Have you tried pressing the [Enter] button instead of clicking? If that doesn't work, please try to play the game without the mods and see if you experience the same problem.
 
I tried mouse, spacebar, enter.. nothing.

It works with the unmodded game and build 12, but Build13 Update 3 is a no go.

I'm thinking of trying build14 and if that doesn't work just giving up and waiting for PotBS.
 
Build 12.1 works as well, but Build 13 does not? Have you tried the Build 13 Full file yet? Instead of Build 13 Final?
 
I have run into this one in Build 13 Final, not yet in Full. Seemed to happen only when I didn't have enough money to pay them. After coming up against that a few times I made sure I always had enough cash on hand to pay the crew, and haven't run into it since.

Ok, intPirate don't give up yet!
Is it the case that yor crew money is too low? If so test this.

In Buildsettings.h make sure the line:<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->#define ENABLE_CHEATMODE<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
is set to 1.

Then in game, hit the "6" key on the number pad.
That will give you 100,000 coin. Then play to where you have to pay the crew and see what happens.
 
I know this sounds stupid, but..sometimes my leftclick button on the mouse just does´nt do the job. Right clicking, on the other hand, does the job..
 
this has reminded my of another bug though. when you want to install new cannons and you don't have enough money, you can install them anyway, reducing your money to 0! has this been fixed yet?
 
The buy cannons interface was rewritten by Pirate_KK, but I have experienced very odd things, including being able to make money from nothing. Very odd. Not sure if it's fixed.
 
But is this "cannon/money" bug in Build 13?

The cannon thing I am referring to is definitly NOT in Build 13.
 
I tried build 14 alpha 6 and it met with the same result... the darn button will not command anything. I can't pay my crew.

I tried adding tons of money, that wasn't it. I tried a different keyboard.. nothing.... Whatever changed from Build 12 to Build 13 broke my game. What a shame.

I'm out of options
 
Quick Update... I installed the latest 8800 GTS nvidia graphics drivers and it now appears to be WORKING.

Thanks for all of the helpful tips.. I'm off to see what this game is about.
