Technical Difficulty - My Game Tends to Freeze

hi,

i'm running the game on an AMD Athlon 2000+, 1.66Mhz and 512MB RAM with an Nvidia Geforce4 MX 440 video card. The game plays okay for a while, then freezes, usually on in the taverns scenes, when talking to someone who is in the tavern itself. the strange thing is that i've played pirates on this machine -- with the same specs -- before and had no problems. i have a new fan so i don't think it's a heat problem, and since there's been no change in hardware i tfind it quite strange that it locks up like this.

hope someone can help.

NB the game does not crash to desktop; instead, it hangs and i am forced to reset my computer.

Have you upgraded Windows recently? I've got the auto-updates on and my machine just slowed down tremendously during the past week. I doubt I can play Pirates! anymore... <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

It may not be the updates, but I have not installed anything new on my machine in a long time and my virus and spyware programs can find nothing wrong either...
