Sorry to be asking newb questions but to my knowledge there is no FAQ on how things in general work with all these mods. i'd like to know how a couple things work. mainly officers and the weapons locker in how it relates to the crew. do you need 47 weapons in your locker if you have 47 crew, and do they use guns if you put them in there? about officers, is there any way to make then not follow you everywhere? and is there any way to heal them when on land/boarding? also is there "ideal" stats i should keep an eye out for relative to their positions on the ship? great mods and thanks in advance.

If you play Build 14 Alpha 9.5 Patch 1, the tutorial has also been update to include some additional explanations on added stuff.

"do you need 47 weapons in your locker if you have 47 crew"
These weapons are used in the 3D boarding scenes. There's about 10-15 boarders in those scenes so you don't need more blades than that.

"do they use guns if you put them in there"
Yes, they do. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/yes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":yes" border="0" alt="yes.gif" />

"is there any way to make then not follow you everywhere"
Talk to them and choose the "About You" dialog option.

"is there any way to heal them when on land/boarding"
Give them potions; they will use them. Use F2>Character>Exchange or stand in front of them and use Enter>Exchange.

"is there "ideal" stats i should keep an eye out for relative to their positions on the ship"
Right now, the officer type doesn't matter even in the slightest and the three active officers all contribute all their skills.
The exception being the gunner, who automatically restocks the player with ammo upon boarding the ship.
This is an area that we're actually trying to improve upon right now.
 
Awesome info thanks. and on a side note is there a way to fix the problem with parts of towns being lightmapped kinda at night if you know what i'm talking about? i also noticed the deck of your ship is different when you're moored vs when you're in first person sailing. will that change?
 
wow new problems, this unstable piece of shit randomly corrupted my save file for some reason...i would try to save and it would just do it real quick and say i needed to return the holy relic to a priest save...then when i reloaded the game the save file was corrupt and wouldn't load (the screenshot image was gone as well). some bugs and alot of lockups are one thing but the whole save going is ridiculous. any idea why this happens? also my characters name was blank and it wouldn't allow me to name it, so i dunno.

One particular part of Bridgetown and Speightstown by any chance?
I looked at that before, but couldn't figure out what was wrong. Maybe I'll try again some time.

Go to your main POTC directory and then: PROGRAM/Storyline/*storyline your playing*.c

Find the line sl.(sn).start.ship = "*shipmodel*"; and change the *shipmodel* to another model

ie. for Jack Sparrow

it isn't much really just recolor the one in the mod to red, remove all cannons on the top deck a bit fast, reinforce though low cargo hold enough for mostly supply high crew u can say i made it specially for siege and boarding though im having problems with boarding no crew would show up only in seige my crew shows so ill stop playing the original campaign for a while till i find out what happen T_T

right now I'm playing as blaze my problem is i cant find Beatrice also it seems port royal in Jamaica turn into a Spanish town call Santiago Vega O_O

so I'm also stuck in this one T_T

think I'm gonna play CoAS for a while till i get a reply
 
It seems you have already ran out of quest to play. You CAN'T find Blaze for the simple reason that part of the quest hasn't been written yet.
The Santiago Vega thing is deliberate and historically accurate.
 
oh i didnt know oh well i quest ill just try to figure out why i usually ended up alone in my deck vs all when i board a ship

and any char other than the main u can suggest that has a complete quest line i can play for a while?

don't have any plans or work for the entire week so i got nothing to do
 
Bartolomeu quest should work from beginning to end in Build 14 Alpha 9.5 Patch 1.
Jack Sparrow quest almost works, but better to wait until the next patch.
 
Has anyone else killed and looted the npc Gregor Samsa at the very start of the game? he usually dies in one pistol shot = loot, then you run like hell haha. i'm just wondering if it will cause any problems in the game/storyline (default storyline).
 
He isn't a storyline character, so that wouldn't cause any problems. However, you killed a merchant, so you're probably instantly at war with England.

Oddly enough there were no permanent consequences when i killed and robbed him this time, everyone attacked me but after i left the dock and it was back to normal. i tried killing him before and i instantly became Horror of the seas or whatever the real low reputation title is, not sure what's up with that but i got my BOOTY so i'm happy. though i am wondering why my boarding crew has skeletons and people in fancy outfits..it happened before when i tried using the money/wealth cheat so i figured it was due to the high wealth. this time i didn't use any cheats and they came back.

That would be how your crew is set in: Options/Advanced Options/Boarder Model
This is accessed from the main menu and make sure you don't have a game running (if you do you will just need to reload game) for Nathanial's soldiers choose the option "boarder"
 
I tried changing the boarder model initially but even when i change it some of my boarding crew are still women/skeleton and the white haired guy in a maroon frock coat, i can only guess that it has to do with something in game but i have no clue.
 
The boarder model code always confused me; maybe something got messed up?
Whenever you kill a merchant who actually has items, you should be getting some serious repercussions.
