The saga of the Blacque family

Fluen

Freebooter
I am busy sorting out the trouble of the poor Blacque family from Falaise de Fleur. Please note, that I use build 12 and currently can't download build 13 or 14 due to limited download capacity.

I noticed that when Nathaniel promises Rachel to have talk with Orable Caron about the bruise Caron gave her I kind of fall into a "quest hole". My quest book is updated and says Nathaniel is going to do something about Caron, but when I approach Caron I don't get the option to talk to him about it. The dialogue only goes on about whose "washtub" that ship (Nahthaniel's) is.

But if I take a detour to Redmond and talk to Marc (the lost brother) I get the opportunity to bring up the beating of Rachel when I land at Falaise de Fleur again. That seems rather contradictory as the quest book after the talk with Orable and the subsequent talk with Rachel goes "Maybe I should find out what happened to the 'Cleopatra'. Now where was that ship last known to be heading?"

I have already dipped my toes in the mod ocean and have looked at the commands concerning the "Rachel beaten by Orable"-dialoge in Orable Carons c-file. It says:

"iTest = iTest + 1;
if ((Characters[GetCharacterIndex("rachel Blacque")].quest.badguy == "1")&&(iTest < QUEST_COUNTER))"

And I believe that is why I have to talk to Marc before I can talk to Orable about his violence to Rachel.
ITest is set to 0 (zero) when I meet Orable the first time and it is 1 (one) when I approach Orable after the talk to Rachel. But where is quest_counter updated? And why must this comparison take place?

I think it's completely out of place that Nathaniel can't deal with Caron as soon as Nathaniel is informed of his violence and I want to change that. But I don't know what to do. Please help me to modify this myself.

just talk to orable twice. it always happens. probably because orable always has to say his second custom greeting first before you can actually continue the quest.

it might not work anymore though, now you've caused that bug. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> only one way to find out!

It doesn't matter. I'm way past that point. But I add the quests to the walkthrough for future use. And there I mention that I have to talk to Caron twice to tell him to stay away from Rachel. I may start a new game just to do it right in that game. I haven't gone very far in my present game anyway.

How did you move on in the Blacque quest? I spoke to that woman who was in a hurry, but nobody knows about the Blacque family or where they live.

I can´t get to my ship from Port Falaise de Fleur or the beach, and I think its because of this quest I have started?

Here's a step-by-step walk through.

Blaque Family:
-----------------
Talk to Milon Blaque in the Falaise de Fleur port.
Talk to Orable Caron, standing a bit behind Milon. (Don't ask him for rumors unless you want to start the smuggling quest)
Talk to Turpin the harbormaster and ask him about the Blaques (don't ask him about smuggling, if the option's there, unless you want to start the smuggling quest).
Enter Falaise de Fleur town from the port, then go to the main town area (with the townhall) and cross it, and enter the next town area (in front of the Store).
Talk to Rachel Blaque and ask about her father.
Talk to Rachel Blaque about her problems, and either give her money (then skip the next line) or say you'll talk to Orable.
Go back and talk to Orable if you said you would, and then talk to Rachel again.
Head to Redmond and go to the main town area (with the townhall), and talk to Marc Blaque. Either offer to take him home (if you do skip the next two lines), or agree to deliver his letter.
Go back to Falaise de Fleur and talk to Milon, then Rachel, about the letter (Note that Rachel may now be in the port as well as Milon).
Head back to Redmond.
Talk to Marc and agree to free him.
Talk to Thomas O'Reily and agree to ransom Marc.
Talk to Marc; he'll join you as a passenger.
Go back to Falaise de Fleur and talk to Milon, then Rachel. Then leave the area and return, and talk to Marc if you want.

A big thx, KevinAtlanta!

don't forget to talk to milon again at the end. that actually finishes the quest, as i found out. it's an unimportant thing, but it stays in your quest book otherwise.
