Trading with `Build-11`

I've read here about a trade bug and have a question...

I restarted, yet again, due to having nowhere legit to sell my cargo, and I can't think of any incident that made my rep' so bad enroute. The storekeepers just tell me to get out or they'll call the guards.

Is this the trade bug?

Hummm... What exactly went on between when you bought your cargo and when you tried to sell it? Did you borrow money from the loanshark, and not pay it back within the time specified? Did your officers get into a fight when you were in town and accidentally kill a civilian?

What *is* your repuation? Is it possible you're trying to sell to a colony that is hostile to your own county affiliation?

Thanks Catalina for taking the time to reply.

After careful thought and reflection upon this matter, I have come to the conclusion that it's just me being a Pirate n00b.

I restarted and eventually got the same mission offered. I was taking Cinnamon to Conceicao, I just realised it's on their contraban list and on top of that I was landing the shipment in the main port. So I went for `plan-B`, and tried landing at Leviathon Rock, passed the smuglers gaff and entered the town via the back door route. Sold the goods and all was well with my rep'.

I hope that tou realise that you shouldn't sell these goods that you are hired to deliver, there is an option that lets you tell the storeman that you have got a delivery for him.

If you sell these goods then the quest isn't closed and eventually your rep will suffer.

Thanks for the reply and yes I did realise that.

I just realised that in my post 2 up, I said...
"...via the back door route. <b>Sold</b> the goods and all was..."

I guess I should have said, "<b>Handed</b> the goods over", not sold.

Btw, I did enter the Smugglers hangout and talked to the store dealer there (enroute to the town) to see if there were any fancy pistols, etc.
As I left the store, 3 scurvey sea dogs assaulted me, which I and my 2 officers quickly delt with and dispatched.
I assume this is because I didn't offer to sell the contraban to the store keeper. I recall that it vaguely mentions something to this effect in the booklet...err manual that comes with the game.

What a great game.

Ah sometimes you have to be careful about those missions - that one is tricky and will cause troubles <i>because</i> it is contraband cargo... You found a great workaround, and I am glad all is well! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I can't tell ya how many times I restarted the game, early on, to fix certain situations... I learned to save the game often so I wouldn't have to go all the way back to the beginning...

The "manual" that comes with the game is, as I am sure you have noticed, rather useless... Make sure if you get stuck, you come back here to ask about your dilemma. We'll be happy to help.

Before Disney got their hands on it and rushed production to tie it into their movie PotC, Sea Dogs II (original title) was shaping up into a fantastic and worthy successor to Sea Dogs. It will be VERY interesting to see what Akella finally releases as their REAL successor to Sea Dogs... It's coming... I for one will be highly interested in this release (whatever they're calling it). They do nice work, when they have the time to do it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

i'VE GOT ANOTHER TRADING QUESTION... (I also forgot I had CAPS lock on),

In the Trading FAQ, it says avoid combat or it will bug the trade mission (or words to that affect).

Now I've been in combat and have successfully traded my goods. However sometimes when I've been in combat and I talk to the store owner, the option to hand over the goods isn't there (when that happens I normally just reload a previously saved game).

<b>My question is...</b>

Is that the trade bug (above) or is it just representing damage or loss to my cargo from the combat?

While I'm at it, is there an updated readme for `build-11` anywhere that explains all this?

Yeah Cat, I am having a lot of fun with this game, I'm really enjoying it with `Build-11`, thanks once again to all involved.

Hengist,
I was under the impression that there was only a problem if, while you are on a trading mission where you are transporting sails or planks, if you got into a sea fight, your sailors would use the sails & planks to repair your ship and that would mess with the trading mission, because you don't have the same amount of material as you set out with. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />

I haven't seen an updated readme for Build 11. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/no.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":no" border="0" alt="no.gif" />

Thanks for the replies.

I just captured a Frigate flying the Jolly Roger, whilst delivering some goods. When I got to my destination, the store keeper doesn't give me the option to hand over the goods.

In the Trade thread, it mentions ship captures will always bug a trade mission, has this been fixed, as it looks like I'm going to loose my captured Frigate by loading a previously saved game to be able to trade?

Well I restarted, but then a similar situation happened with me capturing a ship. However, this time, I was able to hand over the goods with no problems. It's probably just me doing something wrong, but I thought I'd post so to make clear that it's probably not a bug after all.

hey hengist, i had the same problem too and a lot of people have also had the problem. if you buy/sell/capture/lose ships between accepting a trading mission and handing the goods to the appropriate storekeeper, for some reason you don't get the option to hand goods over...
