what you think ???

skipper

Landlubber
hi all

what you think of sid pirates ????
i tried the port royal 2 also and have to say
port2 is more economical and less on graphic
the ships have less details and seafight not that
important like in pirates ....
so its kind of taste but i think the most would like
pirates because its more funny to dance fight and
search make missions as to trade and build farms

the only thing is pirates have to much bugs like

no buying cannons in towns
no buying ships in towns
to fast ageing means time runs to fast in sailing
you will not need 200 days to sail from st.kittis
to st.martin or simething like that
weather is to easy simulated i prefered more realistik
with deep fronts and storms
then why it needs over 6 month to share your plunder
and why you always get 40 men if you had 100 on ship

did you ever trade ????
if you look the different prices for stuff its kind unrealistic
because in st.kittis you buy spices for 11 gold and sell in antigua
for over 50 gold
then happyness of crew should be better done ......
why they always get unhappy if you dont plunder its also to fast
on swashbukkler at the beginning without fame and the instruments
you have to share all 6 months if you plunder less then 15000
its also to fast
you have to spend some alcohol or extra food for your crew to make
em happyier

but all in all its really funny game only should be patched
much funnyier then port2 what you think

The shipwrights will offer to sell a small warship if you do not own any warships. First off, why would you even want to buy a ship? You're a pirate, take one! Second, what country would sell a frigate or SOL to a pirate? They are not going to trust you with their best ships. No matter what your rank, you're still a pirate, not in the Navy.

@Skipper:
It´s a pirates game, not a trading simulation. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
As for the crew and the time after dividing the plunder: your ship gets careened und thoroughly repaired during those six months and the crew, well, they´re no employers of yours, so after you´ve divided the plunder, they´ll wander off and spend their share. The fourty men you start with are some men who are loyal to you, the others just come along for a while in hope of big shares.

........so its kind of taste but........

agreed

the only thing is pirates have to much bugs like

its not a bug its a feature <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

no buying cannons in towns

Think you're right but I've seen some in settlements

no buying ships in towns

Read you can if you have no warship - didn't proof it myself

to fast ageing means time runs to fast in sailing

to st.martin or simething like that

Either I don't get you or you mean different cities or
your sailing skill is really awful. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sailr.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":sail" border="0" alt="sailr.gif" />
With a galeon from Vera Cruz to St.Martin will suck -
you should better take a sloop for that. With a galeon
you have to zigzag so the wind ever comes from aside.
That takes time. You have to plan when you go there.

SMP is not a simulation. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" />

then why it needs over 6 month to share your plunder
and why you always get 40 men if you had 100 on ship

uhhh thats why everyone (i think) hates to divide it.
But it's part of gameplay there has to be some pressure on
you and this "feature" demands you not to trash those 6 month
and stay longer at sea that demands enough money to keep your
crew contend means you have to plunder a lot.....
Same thing as aging. If you were immortal nothing would
make sense. In Pirates Gold I hacked me some money to keep
my crew happy - never was more languorous when catching
the Silvertrain. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsdown.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2dn" border="0" alt="thumbsdown.gif" />

Didn't spent much investigation on it. But I think the amount of
tons is not that high that you can live with that. Maybe I'm wrong.
But try it, perhaps its profitable enough. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Same as above happiness is one of the challenges of the game.

If you got +400k onboard you can stay really <b>really</b>
long at sea with 200 men. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/buds.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":drunk" border="0" alt="buds.gif" />

The hard swashbucky start made me stall at rogue? (second hardest)
but a lot of/some players manage it. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/duel_pa.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":ixi" border="0" alt="duel_pa.gif" />

To abstain from HW/SW realated graphic/loading bugs, in my eyes
there's nothing to patch.
It is as it was, a fun quick playing game that merges adventure,
roleplay, strategy and whatknowI. Therefor it's not perfect in
any of it's disciplines. But I'm happy that it's a slightly bettered
remake than a 3D firework with an assasinated gameplay like
RailroadTycoon 3 - what did they do to that son of Sid ?

So keep on and plunder as you can. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/guns.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":2guns" border="0" alt="guns.gif" />

hear hear!

too hard ? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huhh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:k" border="0" alt="huhh.gif" />

Just my <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dev.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":d:" border="0" alt="dev.gif" /> thought....

Don´t know what your probs are with RailroadTycoon 3. In my opinion it´s a nice game. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Btw. I `ve got some similiar and some other thoughts but I´m too lazy at christmas eve to sum them all up. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />
