Which game?

Hey guys, I just found this forum and I absolutely love pirate games.
Now there aren't many out there so Im happy I found this. I played alot of PotC before and although it was quite rough, I had an absolute, taking over huge ships by entering them, smuggling, just roaming the seas..

Anyway, I saw there are currently 3 games out here and I was wondering, out of the three, which gives you to the most satisfying pirate-experience?
(with of without mods, if mods included, please name the mods)

Thanks!

I'd say to each is own, hence just try them (they are not all that expensive-games wise and the mod is free but awesome). If you like pirate games as much as you say, you would have been playing all of them anyhow. I love this version. :cheers

But isn't CoAS the successor of PotC?
I think I tried it once at a friends house and it felt exactly like PotC, so I dont know whats different in CoAS.

Furhermore, what are the major mods for each game? I heard something about the Build Mod and the Super Mod but I dont know what they are..

:gday

Which game? Yes.

In very general terms COAS is newer and has better graphics while POTC has the movie tie in and is the better pure sailing game.

As for mods, COAS has the GOF mod, and POTC has the build mod 14 patch 6.

I just found the GOF mod, I'll give that a go and see how it is, I assume the experience is better with the mod.
Maybe I'll go with PotC after that to see the difference, thanks again!

I am playing CoAS unmodded mostly. I played PotC modded and unmodded. AoP... I don't recommend it! I would recommend CoAS, for the graphics and the quests. You can buy it from gamersgate.com.

CoAS is the better game without modpacks, but is still greatly enhancing by the Gentlemen of Fortune mod.

PotC is an OK game without mods, but with New Horizons installed (Build 14 Beta 1) becomes really very good indeed and can, as far as I'm concerned, easily compete with CoAS.
Maybe not in the graphics department, being an older game, but it's got a lot of features that modded CoAS does not (yet) have.

Either game is good and if you've got both, the best recommendation I can make is to play both games modded and see what you like the most.

When it comes to graphics, I'd say PotC Build 14 can still compete. ;)
We're doing our best to make it look better in new releases, even having recently improved the appearance of the ocean at certain times of day.
Models and textures are also being continuously improved, although the same can be said for CoAS.

As for the features, it's definitely Build 14 which is ahead. It now has eight years' worth of modding work, and some incredible things have been achieved in that time! :dance
It's best if you want a realistic experience, that's for sure. I believe CoAS is more arcade-style, but I can't say from experience, so I may be wrong.

Sounds sweet, definitely gonna see how PotC is holding up these days, Im looking forward to all the new stuff in Build Mod!

Just be sure to install it carefully, mind you. The last thing you want is to be greeted by crashes...
Believe me, it's easy to miss out steps; we've seen people do it countless times, and done it ourselves too. Be sure to read the FAQ, just in case things do go wrong. :mm
