Has anyone looked into modding the Xbox version of the game?

You need a modded xbox, and when you browse the files they are exactly the same as the PC version.

Yet, when I edit them...nothing happens. It's all very strange. Does anyone have any insight? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

If that's true, that could be really cool, but a lot of this stuff is extra textures for models, new skins for ships, &tc - Is there *room* on an XBox CD to store all those extra graphics?

BTW, don't rely upon me to do any of this modding, I don't know all that much about it - but this is intriguing to me - that you can MOD an XBox CD?
 
Well, you don't do it to the CD.

You copy (or 'rip') the contents of the CD to the XBOX hard drive.

Then it's just like the PC version - I think.
 
Can you download from the internet onto your XBox hard drive? Because that's the only way you're going to get the mods...

And I'm not sure if it will be the same. I just don't know enough about it. I'm also surprised no one has done it already, if it can be done, you know? Modders are inveterate tinkerers, if you know what I mean! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="icon_wink.gif" />

BUT let's hope I'm wrong, and it CAN be done, that would be very cool for XBox people!
 
It can be done, I was modding it lastnight.

Changing the starting ship and whatnot. But I messed it up so badly, I had to `re-copy` everything back to the `hard-drive`! Now when I edit the files, it doens't change the game again.

Damnit! What did I do to allow it to change?!

It's GREAT that you have discovered this. I wonder how difficult it would be for you to have the Build... What is the capacity of an XBox hard drive? And what kind of RAM does it have?

You know, with the exception of the files in the CONTROLS directory, everything seems to be `platform-compatible`. Because of the limited number of controls on an Xbox controller, you probably couldn't have as many key combinations, but I don't see why everything else wouldn't work. The hard part would probably be installation, which would have to be done manually. But it <i>could</i> be done, I bet...

Blast it, for the first time ever, I wish I had an Xbox! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
