A few Bugs with Beta Patch 6

mcd-2003

Sailor Apprentice
Storm Modder
Hi Guys,

Game is much more stable with patch 6 now! Found a few little bugs though which I thought id let you know about. I do hope to get back invovled with the build mod again now life has calmed down!

  1. Mutiny from world map when using heavy Lugger in the stock storyline is broke. Everybody is loaded on the same locator and there is no ship
  2. On the stock Storyline when you sit to talk with the french officer in the taven after the seige of oxbay. There is already someone sat oppersite him and you just sit on top of him
  3. same part of the story I noticed that the table on the top balcony near the stairs in the taven had about 5 men sat on the same locator.
  4. Stock storyline where you talk to the guy who is running the ammo for the french in his room. in his room is another guy wandering around and if you talk to him he is set up as a house owner? in the bedroom in the taven? EDIT: I found Pieter Boelen fix for this!

If I find any more issues ill add them here.

Many thanks for producing such a fantastic game!

:gday Mate!

1. Known bug that no one has managed to fix yet. For now, don't get into a mutiny.

2. Eh? I have never seen that.

3. I have seen that, but it is rare.

4. Yes. There is someone in the tavern room almost all the time. I use them to get more goodies and to work on my melee skills. :ixi

2 is what happens when there's a hirable officer on that seat when the quest happens. it's not that common, just shoddy.

1. - Do different ships use different deck models for the Mutiny? :?

I have just had a couple of Mutinys - using a Jackass Bark - the both worked fine :ixi - Apart from me getting killed :cheeky

If anyone knows the locator files used (for the mutiny decks ) for the various ships - need to know a ship each relates to - I will have a look at them. :mm

1. Yes, they do. All ships use the deck model as set in ships_init.c for the mutinies. That's why I want to know the exact ships that people run into problems with.
Then we can check which deck model is assigned to that ship in ships_init.c .
There are:
ShipDeck1 which uses "locations\Decks\qdeck"
ShipDeck2 which uses "locations\decks\udeck1"
ShipDeck3 which uses "locations\decks\udeck2"
ShipDeck4 which uses "locations\decks\deckLow"
ShipDeck5 which uses "locations\decks\deckMedium"
ShipDeck6 which uses "locations\decks\deckBig"

I'm not sure which locatorfiles the mutinues use, but I suspect they use the "_ld" files.

There are a few more bugg's that I would like to add mates:

1. When you trade goods with a smuggler, one of the talking options are to take his money and keep own goods, thus killing the smugglers. The conversation consists speeches like "I will kill all of you so your smuggler brethren won't know". The next time I want to trade with them, I go to the tavern, we decide to meet on a beach(the usual) but then, I can't talk to the smugglers on the beach. I try to talk to them but nothing happens.

2. Enemy ships, urealisticly(sorry for spelling errors), spin and attack with both sides. They are not twirling around uncontrolobly, but still much much faster that theyr'e ships are capable of.

3. Some "meant to be" strong ships like the latten caravel have a 4 caliber cannon. That ship had 32 cannons! The 4 caliber long cannon cannot be upgraded which is unreal considering the 32 cannons.

Other than that, the build is very smooth going. :keith

1. confirmed

2. i noticed that as well. i thought the captains had really high sailing skills, but they don't. they spin bizarrely quickly compared to the player.

3. it may have 32 cannons, but that doesn't mean they're big. they're tiny ships compared to others, and a trading vessel. it's a ship that prefers quantity above size when it comes to guns.

Hi Guys,

Another one for the list is Escort Missions to Antigua are broke. Player just freezes when you land in the port. If anyone can find a fix for this to would be usful or my save game is kinnda messed up!

I tried to fix the escort missions several time and each time there remain instances where it doesn't work. It's bloody frustrating. :modding

Number 2 is related to the new physics of sailing into the wind. They are tacking into the wind and then spinning around and tacking again. I wuz watching real ships tacking into the wind this weekend and noticed that there is a real difference in speed. A fast ship also turns faster. So, if you are in a pinnace being attacked by xebecs, then they will literally sail circles around you.

Hylie Pistoff i'm not talking about fast ships, I mean that the ships spin(it doesn't matter what type of ship) faster that they should. Say a Xebec would spin much much faster than a Galleon, and faster than a Xebec I would have.

About the Lateen Caravel, I know the quantity over quality thing but, that ship is supposedley one of the best ships out there, yet it's very weak.
I can't recall but I think a Gun Boat(6 cannons) can have a 9 or 6 caliber guns.

why would it be one of the best? i know for certain it isn't. galleons were WAY more efficiently designed.

Yes, Galleon's are better, but the entire Bartolomeu storyline, he was chasing this specific ship, saying it is the best ship he has ever seen, etc. :keith

then that is simply either his opinion, faulty dialogue, or the wrong ship for that plotline.

i have a bug to add to that list: all ships of a whole convoy are flagged as neutral to all opposing ships if only one of them surrenders. they do not all surrender. one of them surrenders, and the rest stops being hostile.

I recall Screwface tried and failed to fix that surrender bug. :modding

As far as the Santiago is concerned, if I'm not mistaken, she originally WAS set up as being very good and then for realism purposes was set to be a lot less good than before by, I think, the Willemstad Builders' Trials.
We could decide to make the ship better again. Since it's quite an important part of the storyline and that ship cannot be encountered otherwise, it shouldn't do any harm to do so.

I think we should invite "Pimp My Ship" to pimp the Santiago. I comandeerd huge warships and left them to rot in Davy Jone's locker because I felt sorry abandoning the Santiago, after all, about 3 chapters of the storyline are about her. :keith

I have another.. well, somthing to add to the list.
Escort missions, havn't noticed any buggs, though there is one thing. It's not a bad thing, it's actually earned me a few millions. The "bugg" here is on sailing mode, you can exchange with the ship like you do with your own ships. You can swap ship's and earn some money and you can take the merchants goods. That led me to a very lot of money from smugglers(and that's how I found the smugglers bugg). I don't think it would be realistic to do that with a mercharnt ship. Maybe we could change that so either you can't do it at all, or it decreases your reputation, or maybe no one will won't to be escorted by you again.

Somthing is making me CTD. I'm uploading a save game from the Bartolomeu story. In this save, I need to go to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Spanish are hostile towards me, so I need to change the flag and I am preety sure that that is what making me CTD. Can anyone try to play with that save game, change a flag and go to San Juan see if that is the problem?
Thanks guys! :doff

Oh, the site wont permitt me uploading "this kind of file" so i'm uploading to SendSpace.com : http://www.sendspace.com/file/ksitkk

About the Santiago, I wouldn't like to have the ship with unrealistic values. So, improving a bit the values alright :yes but not unrealistic values :no

Well, it's your storyline, so I'd suggest that you give her the values you want.
The only thing we're concerned about is that your story makes a point of the ship being special and she isn't really with the current stats.

The Santiago is the fastest caravel not the fastest ship of this game. About the values, seeing I'll be back only next week in the forum and I think you want to release Beta 2 these next days, I let you choose the values for the ship to include them right in the Beta 2. :yes

I don't understand.. Someone changed the values of the Santiago for worst in the past. :? the Willemstad Builders' Trials??
