Not a pirate post, but I just have to say Geaux Saints!!!!

Its not for football. That is just a silly game. This is for New Orleans. I guess it's kinda hard to explain.

We screwed up and did it. Laissez les Bon Temps Roulez! I've never played any of those games. Are they worth a look?

I may be in Port-au-Prince for the next few weeks.

It's not gonna be pretty. But if I can see just one little girl there sleep with a full tummy, a night-light and a glass of clean water by her bed, it will all be worth it. At the very least, my Creole will be a little better when I get back. "Ou te bon jou. Mwen renmen nou tout."

I may be in Port-au-Prince for the next few weeks.

Hey guys and gals. Just wanted to let y'all know that I may be in Haiti for the next few weeks, and I probably won't have internet. It's not exactly a vacation spot right now, but they really need electricity. And that's one of the few things in this world I am good at. I'm currently in...

    Royal Navy Ranks

I'm putting most of my useless information in my questions of the day. I'll forward anything useful to y'all. BTW: If'ns my Southen jive doan fits wit sum y'alls, doan fret. It bees wha'tis. (Translation: If my Southern American dialect ever confuses any of you, I apologize. It is simply...

Not a pirate post, but I just have to say Geaux Saints!!!!

Ridin' in on the City of New Orleans. Illinois Central, Monday morning rail. We got fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders, three conductors, and 25 sacks of mail. Good morning America, how are ya? Don't you know me, I'm your native son. I'm the train they call the City of New Orleans. I been...

    Ship of the Day

I know she is not a pirate ship, but just a wee bit more about the Reagan (CVN-76): She is a nuclear-powered super-carrier. She has two nuclear reactors producing 10kW each. She is 100,000 tons. Her waterline is over 1000 ft. She has a 250 ft. beam and her four screws can push her to over...

    Question of the Day (ish)

Another 10 points to whomever can tell me what the phrase "By and Large" means. It's a nautical term, and If I was going to buy a boat, I would want to know how she sails "By and Large". (Again, no points if you Google it)

    Question of the day

Okay. Another hint. What does it mean to be "ship rigged"? We got the modern day explanation, now what makes a rated ship a ship?

Not a pirate post, but I just have to say Geaux Saints!!!!

Sorry. I know most of y'all probably don't care. But I am literally in tears tonight. I'm still beside myself and not sure what to think. Yeah, it's just a stupid football game But if y'all only knew what winning the Superbowl means to the city of New Orleans. This is the best thing to...

    "Where is Pieter?"

Skwak boxes... Guess its an American thing. Radios. Handheld VHFs are notoriously bad. 30 MHz is ten meters. I doubt your antennas are that long. If your bands are not too big, I can probably wind an antenna to increase your range significantly.

Not a pirate post, but I just have to say Geaux Saints!!!!

I didn't grow up in New Orleans, but I have lived here for several years. I've lived in New York, DC, Jackson, Boston, Atlanta and just about every major city east of the Mississippi. New Orleans is far and away the best place I have ever lived. (Even after Katrina). Even if you don't care...

    Question of the day

10 points to rupertlittlebear. Anyone care to go for the 20?

    Question of the day

No-one? I'll give you a hint. A sloop is a sloop, a xebec is a xebec, a cutter is a cutter... They are all boats. But a ship is a ship.

    Ship of the Day

When I get back home, I'll find the brochure I have on her and scan it. Her quarters are very cramped. I'm a good 6'2" and have to nearly crawl through her below-decks.
