3D Artist with some UDK-Basics

Hello everyone. I´m a big fan of this project, i think someting I´m waiting for a long time now.

I want to support this project with my work. I use Softimage for making my 3D-models, but also own 3dsMax and Mudbox. I´m quite experienced in making textures, animations and render maps (such as normal-, and specular-map),too. I also started working with the UDK (landscapes, textures, own models, etc...) but pnly know the basics imo.

I modded for a long time Star Wars Battlefront 2, Rome Total War and Skyrim. Well one of my "mistakes" is that I´m quite often creating models with high Polycount, but know how to reduce it (see normal mapping...).

Maybe i wont have too much freetime at the next 3 months in fact of my final schoolexams, but I´m modelling quite often and take time for it. So if you guys want me to help you, I´ll try to help you.

PS: I´m quite interested in modelling ships and buildings, but also making characters and weapons.
nut in main part i´m interested in a real-looking-ship with nice animations for its sails, cannons etc...

Ahoy and welcome, Naru1305. :ahoy

We would certainly appreciate your help with modelling; the more, the merrier in that department!

If you're particularly interested in taking on the challenge of ship modelling, then a good place to start would be this thread: http://www.piratesahoy.net/threads/ships-we-need.19549/
It gives a preliminary list of ships we want in the game, with the eighteenth century in mind, though it is not all-inclusive yet.
You can find a link to a very useful hull modelling tutorial at the bottom of the first post there.

You might also want to check out Storm Engine Modelling to see what kind of quality we've achieved for our mod projects, and the Rossiya is a good example of the benchmark we're aiming for with Hearts of Oak. We can offer a lot of support and guidance from experience, so there's plenty of help available too. ;)

thank you very much.
I think i will start with the HMS Indefatigable then. maybe i can manage to start already this weekend.
i only need some plans and then i will start.

Ask Post Captain about the plans; I'm sure he'd be happy to help.

I've now added you to the 3D Modelling group. :doff

If you are building the Indefatigable, you should check out these links:
HMS Anson, 64, not a sister of the indefatigable, but a contemporary and also cut down to a frigate in the same program.

not perfect, but a good reference/inspiration: http://www.pellew.com/Exmouth/Exmouth 007/HMS Indefatigable.htm
Normally I would advise against choosing such a large ship as your first one, but you are already an experienced modeler so its different. There are many people that can help you here, we have quite a bit of knowledge on history and also some very experienced ship modelers. I can also get you the upper deck plan of the Indy as a frigate in a week or two.

No problem, welcome aboard! It looks like you have done some quite good work already, I really like the detail on that sword! It seems the Indefatigable is in good hands :)

glad you like my work, can´t wait on the plan of the upper deck, i will start with the hull this weekend
