42LBs guns

Where can I get 42lbs guns for my ship? I recently captured a Pirate designed Super frigate which shows a 42lbs capability but as far as I could tell this gun is a fort gun according to the cannons file. Am I wrong?
 
i have noticed this as well. yes, it is a fort gun, so therefore i think there is a restriction in one of the cannon files or ship files, so the shipyard cannot sell them. it's just to make the game fair i think...
 
to keep things simple, it's just because the pirate class ships get an extra mountable cannon caliber. the next caliber from 32 pounds is 42 pounds, so that one gets displayed. it's just because the ships that use 32 pound cannons aren't excepted from the code.
 
There's a modifier that sets pirate design vessels to be able to carry bigger guns than the other designs. However, if the other design already IS able to carry the biggest guns available to ships, the pirate design ones are set to be able to carry even bigger guns still. These, however, are not available for ships at all.
 
Ok so no 42lber for my frigate then? Can I edit this just for fun and if so where? I think it would be a laugh to use 42lbrs <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/monkeydance.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mi" border="0" alt="monkeydance.gif" />
 
uh.... there could be a difinition for the selling of the guns in the shipyards in the document for the cannons. but i also think you'd have to assign a shop image for the 42 pound cannons then.
 
Search on the forum. I know there's people who did or tried to do it in the past.

Well that was easier than anticipated. all I had to do was open Cannons_init, find the properties for 42lbs and change the following:
rCannon.TradeOff = true;
to
rCannon.TradeOff = false;

loaded a game, pressed F11 and there they were in the shipyard like they belonged there.
I'm getting so good at this, I think that next week I'm going to write my own pirate game.
