A couple questions about...

Jopieseethoek

Master Mariner
Storm Modder
hi you all 8)

I also installed the great build 11 and I must say it is really great so really good work on you modders :cheers

my questions are;
1. how does `this-beaching` ship mod works?!? it really sounds `mean-full` but when I beach my ship, what then?! If I go buy a new one, my old ship is still rewritting :| so my old ship still dissapear like usual. I really want to know how this work's ... thnx in advance :D
2. land proffit. another thing that sounds really great :p: but when do you get some land and what can you do with that land? I reccently add the skill that you could get some land from the gouvenours, I didn't try it yet but pleasse tell me what you can do with that land ..another thnx xD:
3. where are those really big naval batlles?!?!? ;) really I missed this one in build 11. I mean that sealing around and go into a battle like; french against the englisch and when I'm @ level 25 I must suspect huge a large ship's like MOW but I usually see only a few frigate,s brigs, lineships, warships, galleons and sometimes a MOW but then only one :( I really want that in a very big war much of manowars fighting eachother,... it's really a great sight 8) xD:

ok those are my questions :D but at last.. those islands updates? when do we can expect them,.. this is not to offend or rush anybody but new piratesgames are ahead and this mean's most likely then, that POTC will be at least a little forgotten ...so what my point is that I don't hope that this mod will gome out next year :| I hope really soon in `with-in` 2 or 3 months but 30 islands really sounds that it will gome out next year :cry so please NK or someone of the PMT tell us how far you guys are.. at least when we could suspect it

I hope that this came out right so that I don't sound a littly `un-patient` or something  xD::

really thnx you are :(

`bu-bye` :dio

1 . laying up a ship, I guess it from the old pyrate game, when loosing a ship you can get to the island where you layed up the ship and maked it ready for sea again, wihthout starting a new game...

2. you make personal welth of land

3. In the real time (16' cent) there waz not that many MOWS,
and sometime you get to see a real big sea battle......
but I only saw it once while being level 502 (I cheated on this once)

The new islands should be awesome, I can't wait to see and try 'em,

Its the MODDERS and the PMT that keeps this game alive.......
I just got hooked to the game after learning about MODS and this site.

;):

thnx for your answer jack_sparrow_jr :( :eek:ops

but I stil don't know how this `beaching-your`-`ship-mod` works!! because like I said .. when I beached my ship, I don't have a ship to get off that island or I must `re-take` my old ship again ... but that is not the purpose.. so how do I get of that island?, without takin'my beached ship. If I go buy I new one, it replaces my old beached ship so it's stil worthless :cheers i really want to know how to use these mod xD:

and what did you mean with personal welth xD: ? :p:: I think it's your personal land, yes? but what can you do with it and can you also SEE that it is your lang xD:

really thnx in advance again ;):

There be your personal money,it showa up when yew look at yer character status interface,an ships wealth,it shows up when ye check yer ship status interface, land is seperate an it generates money fer you,fer lay'n up yer ship, yew need tew have a companion ship,if ye want tew beach yer own ship transfer tew yer companion ship an lay up yer ship ;)

....so I have to at least 1 companionship with me.. to lay my own ship in the dock? is that what u are saying? haha lol :p: first you say lay up the companion ship(I think that you mean ship that is sailing with me, friendship) and then you say lay your own ship ;): sorry I feel like a complete idiot :( xD::

btw ... the laying up the ship thingy crashed for once ........ and have never realy tried since ........ but thats more for I don't care saving a single ship anywhere ....... I rather use my ships ... and gaining some money on 'em .....
;)

oki thnx ;): I now know how it works... thnx xD:

one more thing, in the F2 interface menu by ship settings there is a button that you can't use :p: bearthing ship or something... what does that do ?

well , i was at level 15 or so , and i saw 20 MOW's
(ofcourse i sunk , with only a warship ;) )

Berthing a ship is like laying up a ship, Jopie... I think it will only work if you have an extra (not your flagship) ship to lay up. :yes :p:

I am really unsure about the Berthing option myself. Is there anyone who can explain this option? How does it work? How do you use it? When can you use it?

It doesn't.
Eventually, the current `dialog-only` interface for laying up ships will be ported there, by the interface expert Kieron (if he has a chance; no hurry, Kieron! xD: ).

Laying up ships is for this:
1. You have a spare, so if your MOW gets sunk, go ashore and launch your old one
2. Swapping between two different types of ship, i.e. lineship and xebec. So if you want to use one, you don't have to sell the other, just lay it up til you need it.

In order to leave an island after laying up your ship, you have to give yourself a new one.
You can do that either by swapping to a companion's ship, or by buying a new one (even a tartan!).

could someone give a step by step tip on bearthing a ship?

for all us scabby thick sea hounds? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bookish.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":mm" border="0" alt="bookish.gif" />

tried every which way to bearth and it stays disabled, from docking to ramming into a beach.....option doesnt appear or enable.

i havent used the option myself but i seem to remember seeing the option in the dialogue you have with tavern hired officers on shore. If you have only tried laying a ship up from the F2 menu this might help.

So talk to a tavern hired officer on shore, it goes soemthing like this:

Choose "About my ship and crew"
Choose "Whats my layed up ships status" (right at the bottom so make sure you scroll right down)
If you have no ships layed up he will tell you so and he gives you the option: "very well, we will lay the ship up"

I paraphrase but this should do the trick. Bear in mind the point above about having a companionship to change into and make a save before you try this so you can go back if it all goes horribly wrong. Know this isnt really a detailed guide but hope it helps.

yep...it works

it must be a sailing class officer,
and it crashes to desktop,
but if you save before moving after laying up the ship it all works fine when restarting the game.

What about supplies and Crew? Do you just leave crew and supplies aboard ship.

The concept of laying up a ship means putting it in storage. That would infer that it should be empty. Also when navies `laid-up` ships they strike the top hamper/unrig down to the lower masts and bowsprit. Bringing a ship out of storage/`re-commissioning` would entail setting up the rig, provising, manning the vessel and dealing with any damage that occured while the ship was laid up.

When you `lay-up` a ship do you have to go back to the island where the ship was `laid-up` to get it back?

Greg.

Kieron redid the entire ship berthing thing in a mod here, and it's in v12, that addresses all that.
The poor version in v11 does set hull at 75% and rig at 0% when you launch, but all supplies are offloaded before laying up.

Sorry! In `re-reading` my post it comes sounding a little negative. That was not my intention at all. I was in a hurry as the end of my lunch time was fast approaching. What I really wanted to know is, should I offload all the provisions and reduce the crew to minimum before berthing a ship so that I can preserve my resources?

Thanks
Greg.

Eh? I saw no negativity. No nattering nabobs, certainly.

The answer is: yes if you're just berthing. If you're _swapping_, then the cargo and crew will be transferred over to the new ship.
And no matter what, when a ship comes _out_ of berthing, you need to repair her.
