A few new "items" at the Tailor Shop

The tailor shop skins that you buy ARE connected to their animation files, so there should be no problem with that at all! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Yes, but if you buy a Female skin for a male character that you hired in the tavern,
then the animations don't match and you get the spider arm things.

Those officers come with male names and attributes.

No, Petros, they do not, if the female characters have the correct animations. The women who you made portraits for need the "towngirl" animation - they will not work with the "woman" animation.

Here's some pix:

<img src="http://www.ganotherapyusa.com/extras/fawn.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> <img src="http://www.ganotherapyusa.com/extras/towngirl.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />

This is how the entry in initModels.c has to read:

<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->    makeref(model,Models[n]);

   model.description =  "This dress, with it's nice and alluring bodice compliment a head full of fiery red hair.";

   model.model       =  "towngirl7";

   model.nation      =  ENGLAND;

   model.assigned    =  true;

   model.sex         =  "woman";

   model.ani         =  "towngirl";

   model.height      =  1.75;

   model.price       =  700;

   n++;<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->She fights a little awkwardly, but she is a skin I bought at the tailor and switched over onto a male officer that I hired in a tavern. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

Yep you're right Cat <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bow.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":bow" border="0" alt="bow.gif" /> ! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

I'm wrong! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> Sorry I made you go through all that testing.

Did a check after I posted that and found the same you got only I was not able to get
back on line to post a retraction <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

I based my opinion on my past experience testing skins with Debug to overide tailors
mod and give all skins. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/oops3.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":eek:ops2" border="0" alt="oops3.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" />

My bad <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mybad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":facepalm" border="0" alt="mybad.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":))" border="0" alt="smile2.gif" />

Ah, no problem, Petros, the only trouble I went through was to get the screenshots - and that was easy enough. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

The key to keeping away those spider arms to to be sure the ladies have the correct height - try to put a female head on a male body with Inez's tool, and you'll see why. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

I keep doing that, swapping heads of different genders, in the hopes one might line up... but I haven't seen any of them `in-game`. That bad, huh?

ehm, I forgot I was gonna try and put sword and pistol locators on the wimmin. Thanks fo reminding me.

<!--`QuoteBegin-alan_smithee`+--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(alan_smithee)</div><div class='quotemain'><!--QuoteEBegin-->but I haven't seen any of them `in-game`. That bad, huh?[/quote] Heh, you get a BIG male head floating above a women's body in a dress, or you get a BIG male body with a woman's head peeking out of the collar. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

<img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" /> Hummmm, now I have <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_eek.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock:" border="0" alt="icon_eek.gif" /> an IDEA! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/piratesing.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":shock" border="0" alt="piratesing.gif" /> - should be interesting... Ah, another thing to help me "practice work avoidance"! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/w00t.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":woot" border="0" alt="w00t.gif" />

I don´t know wheter it´s been done already (I wouldn´t be too surprised) but just recently, I rewatched "The Three Musketeers" with Tim Curry, Kiefer Sutherland and Charly Sheen (somewhere from the 90s) and I thought, that Rocheford would make a perfect evil character for some quest or a hansome character model as well.

Wonderful idea... Heh... Great pic, love it! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="xD:" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Do you - or anyone else - know how to take screenshots from a software DVD player like PowerDVD? I could then do some good detailed pictures of the guy, and another one who also has a fine set of clothes, providing that little problem of getting them posted here gets solved.

I'd like to know how to take DVD screenshots too... I don't get why I can paste the screen but then my pasted image isn't static; it's still animated when the player is playing, and when I close the player the image goes blank.

I'll get around to Tim Curry's character from Muppet Treasure Island sooner or later... and maybe his Cardinal Richelou from Three Musketeers... but I forget which one's Roquefort. The villain with an eyepatch?

Yes, that´s him. Here´s a picture of his face. <img src="http://www.crazymofo.com/mofos/images2/rochefort.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
What you don´t see, due to the light, is that his shirt is actually purple,the lacing of the baldric is gold and his suit has a fine gold herringbone. It´s the only pictue of him I found on google, for the face it´s not bad, but for the suit there are better ones needed.

Well, he´s in here:
<a href="http://www.crazymofo.com" target="_blank">http://www.crazymofo.com</a>
Look for "Captain Rochefort".
[edit] I don´t get it, why doesn´t that picture work? [/edit]

Man, wish I could put a hat on one of the eyepatch characters... would be a pity to make him without the hat.

I think the actor is... Brad Dourif. He's been in a few wild flicks, a couple of my favourites I guess. I'll definately have to add him, when I get around to it. Or were you going for it? Retexturing isn't hard; all the tools and tips you need are around here. Wikis and tutorials and such...

Isn´t it possible to retexture a character with a hat with an eyepatch?

If you can make him, feel free to, it was just a suggestion by myself, not a claim. As I said above, I´m most surprised nobody has come up with him so far, he´s next door to perfect for a pirate.
There is, by the way, another fine set of clothes in that movie, the one of Girard, the guy who fights dÁrtagnan at the beginning. The guy´s face is, well, not the best, but he´s got a nice suit as well. Nothing like Rochefort, however.

You should use the French Officer's head for Rochfort - should work - just model an eyepatch on him! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" />

(I say "just" like I know how to edit models, LOL!) <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":rolleyes:" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

BTW, Rochfort was played by Michael Wincott. <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_mrgreen1.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":cheeky" border="0" alt="icon_mrgreen1.gif" />

Oh right, that's the guy. You caught me. I knew that... I must have been thinking of a different actor from another movie he was also in.

A year ago I made Wincott's character from the recent Man in the Iron Mask, the prisonkeeper... and finally now I can think of a good "use" for him, running a prison island I'm installing offshore at FdF. I got this castle model perched on a rock so you see it from shore, it's friggin sweet.

Maybe it'll atone for my blacksmiths ruining so many games...

Oh, and good news: We get a "reading week" pretty soon here, something like 10 days completely free. We'll see if I can get anything finished by the end of it.
