1. Could someone please make some screenshots (and maybe even upload to FTP for easy access) ?

2. Why not set up and CVS environment (at sourcefore.net for example) for more efficent `team-work` and project management.

3. I downloaded the russian mod (files addon_am.part0*.rar) and extracted it but it didn't contain any *.c or *.h files (even no PROGRAM folder) ? Where is all the modding done then ?

4. When is english beta coming ?

Hey guys, if you need any help with translating, I'm all up for it. I speak fluent Russian (infact, I <i>am</i> from the bloody country) and I'm also an English Writing major, so yeah. I'm no coder though, infact I don't know ANYTHING about the structure of POTC files, but I'll see what I can do with the loading screens and such.

Sailor Al and RobC, two guys I was trying to collaborate on stuff with, have vanished and are presumed not here. I translated some files Al gave me, but they were basically Russian versions of English text files we already have. I sent them to him, and since I didn't need them anymore and would be moving soon, I didn't keep them.

I downloaded all the files from A&M's site, but none of them have text files... they all just have resource folders and no programme ones. So I dunno what to tell you... but I'm up for helping this thing along again.
 
You know, this is the first time I'm actually glad to know the russian language.

By the way, is it possible to do a second installation of POTC? I want to have Build 12 POTC and A&M POTC.

0) Either uninstall ye old PotC an' delete de old "Pirates of the Caribbean" folder or rename yer old "Pirates of the Caribbean" folder an' den do yer uninstall. Either way, ye has gots tew go through de motions o' uninstallin', foller? <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":?" border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

1) Install Potc afresh and do not play it yet.

2) Using WinZip (or WinRAR), zip (or RAR) up de entire contents o' yer new Pirates of the Caribbean" folder. Go read a book or take a walk, 'cause it might take a while!

3) Move de resultin' "Pirates of the Caribbean.zip" file tew a safe place. It be BIG (about 1.4 GB!).

4) Now fer yer second PotC installation, create ye a new folder named sumptin' like "Pirates of the Caribbean - A&M" or whatever.

5) Next unzip (or unRAR) yer new PotC archive file into de new folder.
Note: It also be takin' bit o' time, but it might be a bit faster than installin' from CD!)

Kiwi, if you are willing to take a look at the A&M mod to see if you can get it translated into English, that would be very cool indeed! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/onya.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":onya" border="0" alt="onya.gif" /> We had a group (as the thread shows) that was working on it, but they all ended up disappearing off to school or "real life" or `what-have`-you, and unfortunately no one has a copy of the work they've already finished...

I'm not sure what all this would entail, but if you need any technical assistance, make sure to ask - and I think there may be one or two others out there who know Russian - so perhaps you can share the task! <img src="http://www.piratesahoy.com/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/keith.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":keith" border="0" alt="keith.gif" />
 
Unless you can get the source files from A or M, you won't be able to translate the dialog or some logs I'm afraid.

The Russian in the files shows up weird on my computer... but Babelfish will recognize most of it and doa hack translation... but now after getting myself a mail.ru account I find sending myself the Russian text in other game files, the leftover bits of gobbledygook in most files, it shows it as valid text. Tres Bizarre. Anyway school's out till January, so I'm game.
